n 2004, billions upon billions of shrimp-size insects took to the skies in the mid-Atlantic United States, covering entire houses, blaring extremely loud noises, and littering forests with their exoskeletons. When the swarm was finally over, the insects cicadas laid their eggs in the ground. Residents were told these creatures wouldnt emerge again for another 17 years.
The cicadas had other plans.
Reports in Baltimore and the Washington, DC, metro area indicate that a small group of the cicadas a group called Brood X are emerging from the ground to molt, mate, and make noise. They werent supposed to return until 2021.

Silly! It’s not Trump, it’s global warming.

It’s not a mystery. It means that scientists don’t fully understand everything. Scientists are to blame, not nature.
Planned distraction from the “known” russkie collusion.
Yeah, they really are coming out early. I wonder how the billions of individual cicadas know how to synchronize their early coming out party — maybe something in their shared genetic code was triggered somehow by unique weather patterns?
Where I live Cicadas come out every year.
Vox Sux.
Our tree frogs have been much more active recently. Usually they are noisy in August and September. They were so loud the other night I had to close the window. And there were a dozen frogs in my daughter’s pool when she opened it.
It’s the Russians. They figured out to genetically engineer them to come out more often. And maybe they’ll get bigger and louder. There’ll be a new reality show— Nekked and Afeard Survivors where they have to subsist on cicadas. Al Gore and Jimmy Comey each put up money for the pilot.
Fake news, it not uncommon. While they all have a 17 year cycle, not all an insync with the same 17 years.
They can’t get any sleep because of all of the whining and crying and screaming by the Democrats.
No clocks. No calendars.
Hate them things.
Frickin noisy as hell and sound like a billion, jillion, gazillion electric razors running....
Cicadas don’t count
Me too
True words
How do ‘scientists’ know these cicadas are the offspring of the others?
When I was a kid, in school, we were taught that there were different swarms hatched at different times. There were seven year and other cycles...................
I have tinnitus. I hear cicadas 24/7/365 ad infinitum............
Nuther thing I don’t miss about Oklahoma....but, there isn’t a redder state...
