Future generations may mark today as one of the truly dark days in American history, a history that may soon take an even more ominous turn.
President Trumps sudden firing of FBI Director James Comey is a matter that should deeply concern every American, regardless of party, partisan politics or ideological leanings.
The independence of our law enforcement is at the bedrock of our democracy. That independence, already grievously shaken under the brief tenure of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is now shattered by uncertainty.
The firing of an FBI Director is always a very serious matter in normal times. But these times arent normal. Far from it. The Bureau is engaged in one of the most important and perilous investigations of this or any other presidencythe investigation of connections between the Trump election campaign and the Russian government.
The questions mount and the shadow grows darker. What were those connections? What did Mr. Trump know about them and when did he know it? How can the President explain the serious allegations against his former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn? And what is President Trump hiding in this regard? Its imperative that the nationWe The Peopleget answers to those questions. It will take time, but the process must start now.
A politicized FBI is the last thing we need as we struggle through the maze of lies, concealment and ever-deepening mysteries. The last time a President fired prosecutors who were investigating him was Richard Nixon during the widespread criminal conspiracy known for short as Watergate. We all know how that turned out. In real ways, this potential scandal and coverup are much graver. We are talking about the very security of the United States and the sanctity of our republic.

Heck one place I worked I saw a gal escorted out of the building by security when she was fired. In full view of the audience.
I don’t know why any considerations should have been given to Comey other than exactly how it played out. In fact I thought it was great he was in California when the news broke.
It was also interesting he wasted no time catching his plane out as well. So this was done very well I thought.
This is probably the first time these words have ever been written.
Except in Klingon or Esperanto.
Sorry, Rather, what I’ve been concerned about since last summer is Comey’s bizarre behavior and decision making. He should never have been Director of the FBI.
From Wikipedia: "...In 1954, Rather enlisted in the United States Marine Corps but was soon discharged because he had rheumatic fever as a child.
Interesting. Didn't know that. Thanks for mentioning.
“...the investigation of connections between the Trump election campaign and the Russian government.”
Well, Dan, Drama Queen, idiot, the chiefs of intelligence, including your boy Comey, said there is no evidence of connections between the Trump election campaign and the Russian government.
Blather is just not credible. I wish we could fumigate him from FR. lol.
Yes, I’d be deeply depressed by this awful turn of events if it weren’t for the fact that I still can’t wipe the smile off my face from the firing of Dan Rather.
More fake reporting by a fake reporter.
But hes our most valuable scalp.
Wait. Rather is not dead?
Does anyone other than Bill Maher really care what subhuman Dan Rather thinks?
O holy crap I can’t read that drivel. Firing the criminal Comey was nearly as horrible as firing the lying Rather.
Fake but Inaccurate
“What’s the frequency Kenneth?”
Funny, Ciaphas Cain. First thing I thought, too.
Isn’t there something in the works re exhuming Vince Foster since he managed to shoot himself twice in the head during his “suicide”. And a bunch of other strange happening...like no mud or dirt on the soles of his shoes in that muddy park, and carpet fibers on his clothes indicating he had either been rolled in a rug, or in a carpeted trunk of a car, and his car was not in the park until it was placed there the following day. Can’t recall all the abnormalities, but it was so suspicious.
