Candidate Donald Trump said of Hillary Clintons e-mail scandal, This corruption and collusion is just one more reason why I will ask my attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor. He later upped the ante with the declaration, She has to go to jail. Now, it appears that the Trump State Department is working to keep the e-mails secret.
On May 5, Judicial Watch issued a press release announcing that U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the U.S. Department of State to turn over to the watchdog organization "eight identical paragraphs" of previously redact material in two September 13, 2012, Hillary Clinton e-mails regarding phone calls made by President Barack Obama to Egyptian and Libyan leaders immediately following the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi. Both e-mails had the subject line "Quick Summary of POTUS Calls to Presidents of Libya and Egypt" and were among the e-mails stored on Clintons unofficial e-mail server.

Good news!
I mean, we HAVE to cut the budget SOMEWHERE, right..?
Seems to me that the State Dept. just cut RIGHT TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE.
Flying’s expensive, you guys can learn to ROW (across oceans).
This old American does not trust the ‘New American’...
More fake news? If it is true, I trust the President KNOWS what he is doing - drain the swamp = MAGA!
Unbelievable!
They may be protecting sources and methods in the interest of national security. Did that occur to you?
Some thing look bad on the surface, but there may be some reasonable explanations for this.
Up thread 2ndDivisionVet came up with a reasoned opinion on this.

Not everything is “Fake news’ and this is an example of scratching each other’s back. They all do it and Trump will do it, but probably not as much.
I wouldn’t put too much into the way this is written.
Just plain old fashioned bull$hit cover-up!
National Security is the President's main function, there could be things in these emails that could really harm our Nation and our people in other countries, military, ambassadors, etc...
President Trump knows what is in the emails, rest assured, therefore, he knows what he is doing...
This article, written by ??? I have never heard of them have you???
While I am in the curious and irritated mode,
who killed Jack Kennedy?
Some very bad people were behind it.
Well we know the state department is an entrenched snake pit filled with career leftist hacks.
National security left the building a long time ago. The US public are the only ones that don’t know what’s in those emails. That’s the whole point.
Clinton told Amr, I have repeatedly, as has the President and other officials in our government, deplored not only the content of this stupid, very offensive film But we have to exercise more self-discipline otherwise well be in a vicious downward circle against everyone who has ever felt offended, particularly on the internet .
After referring to Benghazi, Secy Clintons telephone call with then-Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr also contained a curious reference to what the former secretary referred to as a very successful investment visit led by my deputy Tom Nides, and on the very day they left, this series of incidents began to unfold.
According to the Washington Post, Nides, who was deputy secretary for management and resources at the State Department, was at the same time responsible for communications with donors to the Clinton Foundation.
Nides was also involved in the earlier scandal involving Clintons efforts to provide special access to State Department officials for hedge fund clients of her son-in-law, Marc Mezvinsky (fund shuttered after his Greece investment debacle).
“They may be protecting sources and methods in the interest of national security”
From the article:
“Immediately, the State Department asked Judge Jackson so reconsider her order, claiming that due to an internal mistake the office failed to label the e-mails classified. If so labeled, Clintons e-mails would be exempt from production under FOIA Exemption B(1). Responding to States request, Judicial Watch filed documents averring that the Trump administrations failure was not a mistake, but rather a deliberate attempt by officials at the State Department to shield Hillary Clinton and themselves by “avoiding identifying e-mails on Clintons unofficial, non-secure e-mail server as classified.”
In other words, the e-mails were originally said to be “unclassified” so then-Secretary Clinton would not be guilty of having classified material on her private server, but now that people want to see the e-mails, they are said to be “classified,” and were only mistakenly labeled “unclassified.””
“Judicial Watchs filing cites an interview of an FBI employee who told federal investigators that top State Department official Patrick Kennedy pressured the FBI to keep Clintons e-mails unclassified. The employee told the FBI he believes STATE ha[d] an agenda which involves minimizing the classified nature of the CLINTON emails in order to protect STATE interests and those of CLINTON.”
These were emails summarizing Obama’s phone calls at the time of Benghazi.
Originally, though under subpoena, they were not available because they were illegally hidden on Clinton’s private server. The State Department stated at the time that they were unclassified.
Now, after being ordered to produce them, the State Department has suddenly decided that the emails should be labelled classified.
See post #16.
Thanks for the response.
So now they are playing the patty cake patty cake game, classified/not classified/classified/not classified...
Hopefully Trump will clean house severely at state one of these days.
Excellent point. What seems good to ‘feel’ today could turn to nightmares when the shoe is on the other foot. I would, however love for someone to go on the record, under oath, in front of a special prosecutor and let truth determine the outcome.
When is Trump going to do something about that?
