An email has been sent to staff at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announcing that all their agencys televisions will show Fox News, apparently by order of the Trump administration.
Journalist Paul Thacker tweeted a screengrab of the message, but an FDA spokesperson denied there had been any such order.
It reads: Please excuse me for sending this out to your entire group via your listserv, but I was alerted by a member in your group and I wanted to let everyone know that the reason for the change from CNN to Fox.
The reason for the change is that a decision from the current administration administrative officials has requested that all monitors, under our control, on the White Oak Campus, display Fox News.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I am unable to change any of the monitors to any other news source at this time."
The email was sent to workers at the Centre for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), the branch that regulates medical products.
An FDA spokesperson denied people had been ordered to watch Fox News, telling ThinkProgress: "There was no directive or memorandum from the Administration that went out to employees about broadcast news channels displaying on monitors in common areas throughout the FDAs White Oak campus."
However an anonymous CBER employee told BuzzFeed News that a lot of staff were very upset about the change.
Another FDA staff member went further, expressing fear that having a right wing news source playing in our halls will drive away some people on the left who are already suspicious about the FDA being a shill for big pharma.
Donald Trump has made no secret of his dislike for CNN, referring to the news organisation as fake news on several occasions, and to the media as "the enemy of the people".
The administration even went so far as to block the news outlet, along with BBC, LA Times and New York Times from a media briefing earlier this year.
On one occasion, the US president wrote a scathing tweet about the media: "The Fake News media is officially out of control. They will do or say anything in order to get attention - never been a time like this!"
However, his words about Fox News have been positive, and he recently congratulated the network for its "unbelievable ratings hike".
Most Federal Facilities have what is called a Security Operations Center (SOC) that oversees the facilities security. They have monitor walls that are used to display cameras, security system status, etc. They have at least 1 monitor set to the news, usually CNN, but I’ve seen multiple news networks covered (depending on the facility and its size). There is the possibility that breaking news could provide information faster that is relevant in determining the facilities security posture.
This can’t be true. Don’t most hard-working (or is that hardly-working) federal employees watch porn all day?
“Forced?” I suppose for the past 8 years they were “forced” to watch CNN instead of Fox News, then.
At my work CNN is playing almost always as I come in to get my cab, etc. It’s awful. It’s either that or “Democracy Now!”
Fox has lurched so much to the left that the only thing that differentiates it from cnn and msnbc is Tucker (an Sean on a good day).
As far as injecting leftist talking points into the news and having the opinion segments be full-on conservative and Trump bashing, Fox is the same as all the rest these days.
Being “Not Quite as Bad” does not make one Good.
Forced to watch Fox News rather than CNN? Does that mean that they prefered CNN and are now forced to watch Fox News? Or does it simppy mean they switched which channel plays on tvs in publuc places to the most popular news station after years of leaving on a less popular one?
Sean on a "bad" day is similar to what you see on CNN?
No.
Re; number 1
That’s what I was thinking.
Public servants should be spending every second serving the public. since they get paid more than their public counterparts they should do more not less. /sarc
They should circulate a petition to require CNN only, then fire everyone who signs it.
The suffering! The humanity!

.@POTUS: "I'm not against the media. I'm against the FAKE media." #CashinIn
President of a public TV network offers that.
Previously “forced” to watch CNN rather than Fox.
“Forced to watch”
I hate Yahoo. Rat hacks. I got so sick of the pro rat splash pages when I checked my e-mail I changed to a different host, big hassle at the time but I am glad I did it.
So they they switched from CNN to FNN and this constitutes something the people that work there have to endure. I have never worked anywhere where you could television in the first place.
They were too witless to recognize that they were being relentlessly propagandized with "left wing" nonsense all these years.
The change will do them good ;'}
While they are watching TV they are doing less damage to you and me.
Note should be taken of whosoever is put off by the switch. those are the employees who should be fired or at least transferred to jobs where they can't influence anything. Fox news is becoming CNN II but the perception that is the Right Wing channel draws this kind opposition and the opposition should be an identifier for leftie bureaucrats who should be squeezed out.
I thought torture was against US policy?
If things are that onerous, they can always quit.
