If there is one chart that you look at it today you should make it this one from the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
Using data from the United States Department of Energy, it takes 79 solar workers to produce the same amount of electric power as one coal worker. It also takes 79 solar workers to produce the same amount of electric power as two natural gas workers.

Gee...wonder why solar has to be subsidized.
I see they left out nuclear....................
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said “Well, a-bless my soul”
coal is a hard sell. No one wants to breathe coal byproducts. The Chinese have no choice
How many people would you have to hire to run on big hamster wheels to make that much power?
that’s why they call them “green jobs” — because of all the money they cost.
I can dig it.
“Well, I guess this is good for employment. Dont’ see how it is economically sustainable though.”
Heeeyyyy! Where’s the Nuclear??
Then I guess liberals are right. There is only one solution: self extermination. Tell them to start first, I’ll be along in a few.
Homer may count as less than one.
DoEnergy are Truth Tellers? When did that transition happen?
In a perfect world, Coal would be mostly used in Steel production from ore.
I guess that many of those 79 “solar workers” represent the “Millennial basement dwellers” whom Hillary wanted to put to work installing solar panels! PHOOEY!!!!
Why is it that a “mean and nasty” nationalist like President Trump is offering a much more hopeful future to young people than the “humane and progressive” Hillary clinton? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!
Coal is obviously Earth’s densest source of energy, but one must have the means of extracting it.
Solar is only good for lighting, and other low draw uses. I have used it for 19 years up at our little ranch that is 14 miles off-grid.
On-grid solar is a bad joke!
It makes no sense at all, and never will.
Natural gas is a clean burning energy source. Solar and wind do not work beyond small applications.
But the 79 solar workers feel good about themselves.
