Sounds like a good start, but it should go a little further and allow a driver whose vehicle is kicked, punched, or otherwise damaged by any protester to retaliate by any means that they deem necessary to stop further damage or protect themselves from possible injury when their car is surrounded and protesters are jumping on the car or otherwise threatening the occupants.

This should be part of self-defense and the belief that one is about to be attacked or is being attacked should justify such actions.

With dashcams I think this can be refined at the state level. A dashcam requirement could perfect this concept. The Federal government should not interfere. Any state brave enough to broach this topic ought to be allowed.

A common sense approach to people attempting to nullify the rights of US citizens using the roadways for transportation purposes. Protestors have no right to hijack highways, electric utilities, water supplies, airports, public vehicles, or property rights of anyone.
Why not just give police the power to arrest these people without repercussions? A nights in the cooler would do wonders.
