A new bill has just passed the NC House that would allow North Carolina drivers to legally hit protesters who are blocking the road without being sued, as long as they “exercise due care.”
North Carolina House Bill 330 was passed by a 67-48 vote.
It was introduced by Republican Justin Burr and “provides that a person driving an automobile while exercising due care is immune for civil liability for any injury to another if the injured person was participating in a demonstration or protest and blocking traffic.”
“As we’ve seen, time and time again, as folks run out in the middle of the streets and the interstates in Charlotte and attempt to block traffic,” Burr said. The Republican commented that he wants to ensure that “drivers don’t have to fear driving through Charlotte or anywhere in North Carolina.”
“This bill does not allow for the driver of a vehicle to target protesters intentionally,” he added. “It does protect individuals who are rightfully trying to drive down the road.”
Charlotte saw a number of roads blocked after the death of Keith Lamont Scott and the protests that followed last year.
The bill is now heading to the NC Senate for final approval.

Hmm...so it’s a kind of Make My Day law that puts the onus on the driver to prove he had no choice. Lawsuits up the wazoo, and protestors given another reason to riot. Because the govt doesn’t want to have to confront the BLM morons and risk antagonizing the gibmedats. Basically you’re on your own, good luck with the consequences. But this little law might - MIGHT help save your butt if you run over the idiots.
Why not go all out and legalize mowing them down? Might keep them off the streets after a few incidents.

I think it's terrific and hope the good citizens of NC exercise this Liberty carefully and frequently.
Maybe once they know they're literally throwing their lives away, they won't go in the streets anymore. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I have seen a “protester” run over slap the side of a car with her hand and then throw herself to the pavement screaming. The fact that I saw it and walked over and said, “hey I saw that sh@t! caused two protesters to immediately leave the area.
I got caught in a situation at night in Jacksonville in the 90s, not protesters but a bunch of locals converging on my car as I slowed after turning off the I-state at the wrong exit. I put my pistol on the dash and floored the accelerator. The ones in front just managed to get out of the way. Wife was yelling at me what if I hit someone !?!?! I yelled back, what if we got dragged out of the car?
That will clear the road ahead for sure,... except for the urine and pooped pants, left by the protesters at seeing what’s coming towards them.
Sounds like a good start, but it should go a little further and allow a driver whose vehicle is kicked, punched, or otherwise damaged by any protester to retaliate by any means that they deem necessary to stop further damage or protect themselves from possible injury when their car is surrounded and protesters are jumping on the car or otherwise threatening the occupants.
That’s already allowed.
If you believe you are in reasonable fear for your life, you can drive and run them over. Go to the nearest police station to report the accident.
This is just extra legal protection for the driver.
It’s also a federal crime to block a federal interstate. They should pursue those charges and it’d stop this bs.

Exactly! When your vehicle is attacked, this gives you the right to defend yourself. But there is potential for misunderstanding.
