Republican Obamacare replacement bill passes House

After years of debate, the House on Thursday voted to repeal key parts of the Affordable Care Act and replace them with new provisions.

The vote, which President Donald Trump was planning to tout as a big victory, sends the Republican-sponsored bill to gut Obamacare to the Senate for consideration.

But winning approval for the bill could be even more difficult in the Senate than it has been in the House, where Republican leaders struggled for nearly two months to wrangle enough votes in their caucus to secure its passage.

The bill passed by a vote of 217 to 213. All 193 Democrats voting opposed the bill; they were joined by 20 Republicans voting "no."

It won’t get past the senate without, at least, some of these “entitlements” making it back in.

You're probably right. Depressing...

I heard he was the only guy in the House that voted against a bill on sanctions on North Korea. Apparently he’s a libertarian.

Suspicious, very suspicious. (Still tracking and reporting)

Apparently we still don’t know what is in it...the last amendment of the AHCA bill (#115): “As of 05/05/2017 the description for this amendment has not been received.”

What happened to the GOP “72 hour” pledge?

I have become immune to sad days for our country. My faith in the POTUS, Congress and yes, the American people, is long dead. I expect only bad days everyday.

Given where you're from, I fully understand! You're still a "never-Trumper"!

So, cogent analyses of Trump's base makes someone a "never Trumper"? I think you may have just proved his point.

Do you believe that a person who loses their home to an act of God, say a tornado, should pay more for home owners insurance than someone who hasn’t lost their home?

Sadly it probably isn't. Trumps base is just as loyal to him as 0bama's base was to him. When Trump started abandoning his key campaign promises, I expected his base to turn on him.

There were and are low expectations. But the wall is not dead. There are claims it was prohibited in the spending deal but I have not seen proof of that.

As for repealing Obamacare, the bill he got through the House is the best he can do to get it by the Senate RINOs. Even that bill will be difficult. They will probably have to add billions to buy off Collins, etc.

My faith in the POTUS, Congress and yes, the American people, is long dead. I expect only bad days everyday.

The American people had a choice between a conservative/liberal showman/businessman and a POS. They chose wisely. There were no other choices.

This is an utter abandonment of conservative principles. The federal government has no business being involved in medical care.

That ship sailed in 2009. It cannot be turned around with a straight repeal vote because that would simply fail in the Senate. The only choices we have now is gov-run health care or socialized medicine-lite. I choose lite to buy a little economic breathing room. I like having more HSA possibilities and letting people pay cash for medical services.

Trump and Freedom Caucus have made the bill as conservative as it can be.

For now...

Just answer the question.

My point is, some people have so called “pre-existing conditions” that have nothing to do with lifestyle, that’s strictly genetic, an act of God. You figure out from there what I’m getting at.

Charming.

I know there are people in that category. I am one of them. I don't believe that because I was dealt a bad hand that my fellow taxpayers must make it up to me. If they wish to reduce the burden, as the proposed bill looks to do, that is laudable. That said, I don't expect to pay the same rate as a perfectly healthy person. I chalk that up to "life isn't fair" and will do my best to cope with it.
