Mick Mulvaney, the budget director, is currently having a press conference.
I was watching it, and learned for the first time, that there is several hundreds of millions of dollars in the budget, for ramping up fencing on the border (now) upgrading to a 20-foot structurally sound, actual border.
This is the first I had heard of that.
It seems the President is looking at playing much harder ball in September.
It seems the 2017 budget was closed, as of the budget agreement.
I am much, much happier than I was a couple of days ago.

Basically the wall is being built where it can be built. As stated the real wall is going up as “upgrading/maintenance” of the existing wall. I will tell you that a lot of the existing wall needs up grading. So IMHO the wall is starting to be built.
At this link there are pictures of the existing “wall”. You can see where parts of the existing wall needs “upgrading”. Just upgrading the existing “wall” will cover a lot of miles.

Mulvaney was a Superstar during that press conference. He did a better job than Pence did on Limbaugh. Speaking of Limbaugh, he is hurting more than helping, and a few people around here need to stop using the Washington Post as a reliable source.

So, how may miles of border wall can this so called several hundred millions of dollars cover?
It seems like 40 miles of the border fence is getting upgraded to.....something......
Honestly, this is how I expect this entire process to go. There will be some physical improvements, some technological improvements, and some additional manpower and that will be “The Wall.”
Honestly, the lawsuits over land acquisition could take 10 to 15 years to resolve.
Probably the best solution is to put military patrols back on the border embed 1 to 3 border officers in them who can make the arrests. Make the patrols part of training for infantry, Marines & Special Forces. Give the border patrol plenty of drones. (Everybody needs practice patrolling!) Quadruple the number of available border patrol agents on the US Mexico border. Include the border state LEOs again embed federal border patrol officers, also allow the states to create a “State Corps of Observation”. This state corps mans observation posts, they can defend themselves but they can take no offensive action. They observe and report. Also allow citizens to “observe & report”, put a bounty on a correct observation & interdiction. Setting up something like this where any reported incursion can be acted upon within a very short time with an arrest ought to be as effective as a Pacific coast to Gulf coast wall. Walls can fail, think Hadrian Wall & the Great Wall if there’s no will to man them and give consequences to incursions it doesn’t matter if there is a wall or not.
I bet it would be cheaper in the long run then a physical wall.

The idea of a border wall is ridiculous. Why are we allowing ourselves to be put in such a position by foreign criminals and our money? It shouldn’t cost us a dime. Instead make it a felony - 10 years imprisonmemt, $500,000 fine, for anyone who employs or houses an illegal.
The Border Patrol wanted this border wall. If they believe it is effective it likely is.

That is why it is important to not listen tot he media even Fox News. Fox Business is much better and all I listen to. Also, go the The Conservative Treehouse. They have more facts about the what has happened and why the lobbyist, who write the bills (congress doesn’t actually do it) are still in charge until Trump can pull the plug and “drain the swamp”.
This is sorely needed. During the Obama administration, the Illegals have welded doors on the wire fences.
It was $375-$390 million too. I forgot the exact amount, but it was substantial.
