Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a centerpiece of his administration -- but so far his administration is deporting fewer people than his predecessor.

Yep. No boy does it pizz me off. Since I live in California it’s my number one issue. I want them gone. Period.
If that’s true, why are Democrats marching in the Streets protesting President Trump? Shouldn’t they be thanking him?
Fake News
And he’s got leftist, ideologue judges fighting everything he does.
CNN reported the good economic stats yesterday, and followed it up with fraudulent polling saying Trump was historically unpopular. Compared to who?

That’s because a lot are self-deporting. LOL.
Keep your enemies close.
No regrets from me, Hillary was completely unacceptable.
I would just like to see more consistent action to encourage illegals to leave on their own by cutting off employment and benefits along with detaining and removing ALL the illegal aliens ICE comes across.
Currently they are only doing so with convicted criminals.
In any case, where was the hue and cry when bronco bama was kickin’ ‘em out?
Do you have any evidence of that?
I sure would like to believe it, but none of them around here are leaving yet.
My thoughts as well. Since the number of illegals crossing the border is dramatically down, therefore the number of illegals caught crossing the border and then deported is also down.
There is a reason Trump is having problems getting the ‘wall’ financed. The globalists in the Republican as well as the Democrat party are pulling all the stops to keep a permanent barricade constructed.
The truth is that under President Trump, the system is being revitalized. He has already sent temporarily reassigned immigration judges to 12 cities and six detention centers mostly near the border with Mexico to speed up the bottlenecked process.
“The clogged immigration courts have gotten less attention than other aspects of (President) Trump’s orders, such as construction of a wall on the 2,000-mile border with Mexico and the addition of 5,000 Border Patrol agents and 10,000 Immigration and Customs and Enforcement officers and agents. There was a backlog of 542,646 cases at the end of January, including 20,856 people who were being held in custody.”
The reason deportations are so low under the Obama administration is because of a series of executive-decree amnesties and so-called prosecutorial discretion policies that shield at least 90 percent of the illegal-alien population from enforcement. Under current rules (as distinct from the law), illegal aliens with family members and those who have not committed other serious offenses are off-limits for deportation.
As a result, ICE agents now are releasing more illegal aliens than they are deporting, even though they have more resources and technology at their disposal than ever before. ICE is doing less with more than any prior administration, at great cost to Americans not only in fiscal terms, but also in public safety.
CNN is the sad, little raincloud ever-searching for a parade to rain upon. The weak, blustery tempest in search of a teapot to live in.
ICE Deportations Hit 10-Year Low
Key findings:
Deportations credited to ICE in 2016 increased by 2 percent. All of the increase came from cases of aliens arrested by the Border Patrol, not interior enforcement.
Interior deportations fell from 69,478 in 2015 to 65,322 in 2016, out of a population of illegal aliens now estimated at 12 million.
Deportations of criminal aliens fell from 63,127 in 2015 to 60,318 in 2016, out of an estimated population of two million criminal aliens.
The total number of deportations under the Obama administration is not easily comparable to prior administrations because of the number of border cases included, but it certainly is not record-breaking, as Obama has claimed.
DHS maintains that CBP arrests have always been a large share of ICE deportations, but in fact this is a new development under the Obama administration. In prior administrations only a third of deportations credited to ICE were border cases; now about two-thirds are border cases.
Under Obama, any stop at the border was counted as a deportation. Hence the large number of ‘deportations.’ A teen goes to a bar and doesn’t have i.d. He’s stopped at the door - not deported out of the bar; he never got in.
Also, as Trump took office many illegals scattered like cockroaches to Canada or Mexico. I don't care where they go, as long as they go.
More Fake News
Whether the report is accurate or not, deportations do indeed need to be ramped up dramatically.
I agree with you.
I have some Latino acquaintances who have friends who they know to be illegals. Feedback is that the illegals community is scared about the new admin. That said, the illegals use fake ID and straw purchasers for purchases of homes, cars etc. They really do not care about the rules whatsoever. They expect to continue jumping whatever border barrier gets built...which is why I think we need the military deployed at the border immediately. And there need to be significant deportations before 2020, or we could see vote fraud on a massive scale.
