A tribal leader is threatening protests if the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) begins construction of President Donald Trumps proposed border wall.
During a meeting of Native American tribal leaders, the Tohono Oodham Nations Vice Chairman Verlon Jose threatened protests similar to those known as Standing Rock, where environmentalists protested the Dakota Access Pipeline, if Trumps wall is built, according to AZ Central:

I live in Arizona and I go to Rocky Point, Mexico. There is a national park that corresponds to the Tohono area. This is the park that has huge warning signs not to go into the park because the drug cartels have taken over the park.
Now this nut on the rez wants no wall or law enforcement for the sake of the environment. Some people are totally brain dead.

Tohono Oodham Nation. The Tohono Oodham Nation governs four separate pieces of land for a combined area of 2.8 million acres (4,400 sq mi)(larger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined), making it the second largest Native American land holding in the United States. These lands are located within the Sonoran Desert of south central Arizona and are directly exposed to the MexicoUnited States border for 74 miles. Importantly, their tribal range overlaps with Mexico, though that is non-reservation land.
And yet it has only 28,000 tribal members.

Someone should explain to Tonto what his name actually means (from the Spanish "tonto") before he starts trying to inform the rest of us. In Spanish, "tonto" means "stupid."
Who'd-a thunk, eh?

I thought we outgrew triblaism at the Treaty of 1868. Oh but then there was The Battle of the Little Bighorn, guess not. Oops then their was Wounded Knee. When does it end? Forget the pipeline protest.
I’m quite sure there are other tribal issues to be mentioned, just didn’t want to go overboard, although we should not vacate the subject without mention of two agencies not very helpful in the process, IHS, and BIA.
Federal law isn’t much help either, with the bad culture enforcement bill, ICWA. That would be the Indian Child Welfare Act. I’m surprised that on top of all the welfare/cultural destruction going on the tribes aren’t persuing reparations.

Maybe they can not build the wall through the reservation? Or, build a gate.
