This is very typical of Leftist environmentalism. Pollution is bad - but only when Western countries pollute (I don't remember 80's environmental activists ever complaining about Soviet or Chinese pollution, nor today in any Third World country). Overpopulation is bad, but only when people in developed countries have children (even though most developed countries aren't even producing children at replacement rates). You can't complain about overpopulation in Africa or the rest of the Third World, that would be "racist", even though its in the Third World that people have more children than their economies and infrastructures can sustain.

The bottom line is that "environmentalism" isn't so much about conservation or nature as it is another means to socially and economically cripple western nations in favor of the Third World.
