I know without looking.
We lived in Mt. Gilead, NC for a very short while about
45 yrs. ago. Politics weren’t a big topic back then. - It
was a very small town; we had to drive in to Raleigh to
even pick up carry out food. - Mt. Gilead did have a small
restaurant that a woman had set up in an old house in town.
Son & I went in to town once every two weeks to the
laundramat & washed our clothes. We rented a lakeside
cottage on the outskirts of town. We did laundry, then went
to lunch at the drugstore downtown at an old-fashioned
lunch counter where we got sandwiches, chips & fountain
cokes. Then across the street to ceramics class. (I still
have a few of the items we made in ceramics.)
We moved back to Tennessee as husband got homesick. I
liked it in NC, but did have at least one scary
experience on the lake - and the man we rented the cottage
from was robbed and murdered a few years later (he did tend
to flash his roll of cash around, not a good idea even in
a quiet town).
yep, and the principal was there and called an end to the conference the first 5 min. I suspect the language was not appropriate for her 5 year old son who was also present.

I’d wager that all of us knew after reading the headline — WAY before getting to her name. Mind you, there was a SLIGHT possibility we were jumping to conclusions because her name lacks an apostrophe. That would have clinched the deal.
No, the “child” does not have behavioral issues, or any other issues as far as that goes. It is the other people, such as the teacher, that have problems and issues. A few down the road, a reporter will stick a mike in her face and she will say, “the police had no right to shoot my baby.All he did was kill a few people, rob a few people, and shoot a few policemen. They should have gone about their business and left him alone. He is a good boy. He brings me half of the money he gets from fencing what he steals, and he keeps me supplied with dope.”

It’s getting to the point where teachers will have to have security cameras running in the classrooms at all times and the parents/guardians will need to sign a consent form for their kids to be filmed as part of the regular school enrollment papers.
Then these conferences would be a matter of playing back the tape and saying “This... is unacceptable in my class. This... is also not allowed. This behavior needs to be curbed as well” as the evidence of misbehavior plays out on the TV or computer monitor. Oh, and as an armed security guard stands nearby.
Your school system doesn't have cameras in the classrooms? Is it a one room schoolhouse?
And no, they don't ask the parents first.
