All this plan needs is lots of money from the rest of the country.
lol
The proposal, promoted by the states powerful nursing union and two Democratic senators....
There’s shock :)
Gee that’s a shock. Who could have guessed that would happen? /heavy sarcasm
What a fantastic f***ing opportunity for fraud in charges and billing...
This is the equivalent of pulling the stick back on an plane that is on the verge of a stall.
Bye bye Mexifornia.
Please seceed before you crash.

I thought the UN said the US couldn’t do this, why is CA exempt. Oh yeah. Never mind.
This state does nothing right. NOTHING.
A monstrosity like this will bankrupt the state in record time. Go for it sacramento. GO FOR IT!
Already planning my calexit, this would cause me to move out of the state immediately.
Most members of California public employee unions and the teachers union are covered by Kaiser. I wonder if they are dumb enough to destroy Kaiser? (yes, probably).
Cool.
CA has some really good doctors.
Who will move.
And work in the other 49 states.
I was really hoping Vermont would be the guinea pig.
We could absorb epic failure in a state with 600,000 residents. Then no one else would try.
When California tries and fails it is liable to bring down the whole economy.
I agree, but isn’t this federalism? Didn’t TN and VT attempt universal state healthcare?
Repeal Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid and leave healthcare to the states.
California was once a pretty good place to live, believe it or not
When people finally get tired of the gimmick life and the Silicon Valley tech bubble bursts, California’s wealth will dwindle and there’ll be no money left to pay for this kind of folly - it’ll be fun to watch the panic and bitterness that follows......
“When California tries and fails it is liable to bring down the whole economy.”
My bet is the sh*theads under the dome in sacramento know this and will try to call the feds bluff. Their thinking? CA is too big to fail. The feds will HAVE TO bail us out.
Stupidity? “Supersize me”, says Kalifornia.
Once everyone sees the hollywierd elite and silicon valley moguls in line with them at their neighborhood free-clinic, I am sure then it will be considered a success. I suppose these doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics etc. will all become state properties and employees.
Vermont certainly tried, and here is how the NY Times reported the results:
"But Mr. Shumlin and his advisers concluded the plan would require enormous new taxes, including an 11.5 percent payroll tax on all Vermont businesses and a sliding-scale income tax of up to 9.5 percent. In all, he said when he announced that he was shelving it, the plan would require about $2.5 billion in additional revenue in its first year, in a state that raises only about $2.7 billion in taxes annually."
