I don’t think she was sincere for the following reason- she was doing the bravado act —before— the group of students even declared they were going to stand behind her- but now they aren’t going to, so now she is using that excuse as her reason for pulling out-

I believe she knew full well she was never going to be protected- and really, she is calling it off because a small group of students won’t be there to what? Protect her from physical harm? She knew that berkley police were never goign to protect her- so it all hinged on a small group of kids siding with her?

Just my opinion based on what I’ve observed about the issue-

Just so you know, I'm not a reflexive Coulter defender. For a long time, I was even a detractor, due to her brusque treatment of Sarah Palin.

My affinity for her did rise after she came out so strongly for President Trump, though I still don't buy her books, or follow her columns, etc.

This reminds me of an invitation that I received from the YAF Chapter at Antioch--the small Ohio College, where some of the New York Communists used to send their kids--in the early 1960s. The 7 YAF members on campus invited me, and the crowd they drew was about a 100 or so, all but the seven basically Leftist.

Rather than the barn burning the Leftists planned, I decided to prove a point, by talking for about an hour and a quarter or so, on the same subjects I would have covered with a Conservative or mainstream group, but from a prospective and sequence that would confuse the non-YAF attendees. It worked perfectly. You could hear a pin drop for over an hour, and I managed to make every point intended, while those indoctrinated with the expected talking points sat dumbfounded, in their lack of real understanding of the dynamic context of the issues covered.

The point is that the Left is indoctrinated--sometimes self-indoctrinated with sloganized arguments. But very, very few of them really understand the logical attributes of their own wish lists.

I think that Ann understands the essential points, and was probably looking forward to the Berkley adventure. If she could have just gotten them to shut up, she could have had a lot of fun.
