Muslims in Xinjiang region can no longer use names such as Mecca, Imam and Saddam.
Chinese authorities in the northwestern region of Xinjiang have banned dozens of baby names with religious meanings that are widely used by Muslims elsewhere in the world.
Sources in Hotan, in the southern part of the region, had previously detailed a list of banned names in 2015, but the ban now appears to have been rolled out region-wide, Radio Free Asia reported.
Islam, Quran, Mecca, Jihad, Imam, Saddam, Hajj, and Medina are among dozens of baby names banned under ruling Chinese Communist Party's "Naming Rules For Ethnic Minorities," an official confirmed last week.

We know that Islam is at war against the civilized world, but never thought of Red China as being part of the civilized world.
So, no more Baracks? I’m for it!
Works For Me!
And all identifying themselves as Muslims will be given a list of Islamic hell holes they would like free travel to. OK I made that up, but that’s what I would do. Make them live in the world they aspire to, instead of creating hell holes for others as well.
This just in: a U.S. federal judge has issued an injunction against the ban, effective immediately.
It isn’t. They’ll do the same to Christians just as readily.
Good. There is no good coming from islam or its ignorant and retarded followers.
How horribly not PC of them.
Well, I guess no kids can be name Kim any longer.
This could be a major problem for China. They’ve got so darn many people they were running out of names already. Limiting them will just put more pressure on parents to be inventive. Either that or start adding numbers to them like Cheng 1,235,673 like we do on computer names. Might be too big for an abacus, though.

Islam has been at war with everyone else since 622 A.D.
If they were to encounter even the most uncivilized tribe they would subjugate, convert or kill them.
I don’t much care for the ChiComs.

But I totally hate Moslems.
So, anything the ChiComs want to do to the Moslems is jake with me.
They should ban names like Hussein and Barack too. Not a bad idea for us either.
I fear this could backfire on them. Am reading a classic Chinese “novel” called “Outlaws of the Marsh” (sort of the Chinese “Robin Hood”)in which the bold men all have fanciful nicknames, e.g., “The Black Whirlwind”, “Timely Rain”, etc. etc. As a result, I see some Chinese muzzie carrying a nickname like “The Camel Riding Clit Whacker”, or “The Takla Makan Head Chopper” -— thus avoiding official naming sanction. We’ll just have to see what happens...
Islam, Quran, Mecca, Jihad...
A child named Jihad does not play nicely with others.
“It isnt. Theyll do the same to Christians just as readily.”
They never have.
Most Bible names have standard Chinese translations and Christian parents name their children the translation for John or Elizabeth with no issues.
This is just my opinion but I did live in China and have a PhD from a Chinese university.
There is a lot of dislike by the Chinese I met for Muslims. They think they are trouble makers. This isn’t the case for Christians in China.
The difference is, I think, that a Chinese version of John, James, Nathaniel or Joshua does not imply a secular affiliation with an organization that is dedicated to overthrowing the government or fomenting revolution.
Christians, and at least some of the Chinese officials know this support the government when it does not directly conflict with their faith. You can be both a patriotic Chinese and a Christian you can’t by a Muslim and be patriotic unless you live in an Islamic state.
BTW: Jaing Zemen’s wife went to the Chinese Roman Catholic cathedral for mass on a fairly regular basis.
If they remove symbols from Christian churches, they would move on to going after people’s names. This appears to be a first with respect to Islam, so Christianity cannot be too far down the road with respect to such things.
