The "weekend cops" beat is not the most glorious job in journalism, but it is the easiest. All you have to do is check into the newsroom, grab a portable scanner, go to breakfast, visit the cop shop, ask a few questions, check the police blotter, eat lunch, scribble a few paragraphs about a car accident, then meet your fellow scribes for an after-work libation.
But you do have to do one thing. Always listen to the police scanner.
Every newspaper has its own horror story. The one related to me during my first turn on the cop beat in Colorado Springs was about the weekend reporter who thought he would turn off his scanner while he played some basketball.
The next day, the owner wanted to know how his newspaper failed to report on the major train crash near downtown, the largest of its kind in that city's history.
Maybe that is why all the weekend cop reporters in the San Francisco Bay area did not hear any police scanner traffic Saturday night at 9:30, when 60 black people rampaged through a BART train, robbing, beating, threatening, and laughing – always laughing.
Because not one word of this leaked out for 36 hours.

Neither of which are classified as a “Violent Felony” MAX Sentence is 10 days in Jail and 1 year Probation. I doubt they would even be prosecuted if they turned themselves in. There simply is NO Money in it for the Government.
Actually the media did not sit on the story. I read about it yesterday. They just did not report that it was blacks who did the crime.

What makes this author think the robbers were black? I’ve read they were “teens” or even “youths” but no other description. Also, even if they were black, isn’t random violence justified because income inequality, Trump, and reparations?

But did they mention that the gang had robbed a large number of unarmed passengers on a Bart?
In California, they don’t have to say unarmed passengers.

The tipping point was when the bad guys decided to gang rape a 18y/o passenger near him. She pleaded for help so he decided enough is enough. The bandits overlooked his kukri. Bad mistake. He stood up and went to her aid. For 20 minutes he went H2H, steel on steel. End result 3 dead bad guys 8 wounded and the attack repelled. Straight up Audey Murphy.

Some people specialize in documenting Second Amendment issues, and people who are interested in the subject can scan though their research unencumbered by articles about chili recipes and the best way to unstop a clogged drain. Feherty has a web site where he is engaged in documenting the extent of black-on-white crime -- something the "mainstream media" is notoriously reluctant to acknowledge.
