Far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has announced that she is stepping aside as leader of the National Front (FN) party.
The move comes just a day after she reached the second round of the French election, where she will face centrist Emmanuel Macron.
Ms. Le Pen told French TV she needed to be above partisan considerations.
She told France 2 that France was approaching a "decisive moment".....
Ms. Le Pen used her interview to launch a blistering attack on Mr. Macron, saying his policies would lead to savage globalization and massive immigration, and that he had not shown one iota of love for France......

If there is a major economic calamity or major terrorist attack, she will gain big momentum that the media will find hard to blunt.
We shall see what happens.
Oh well.
I guess she “blinked.”
No blink. It’s a symbolic move to attract voters from all the parties, not just her own. Kind of an opening for running a more generalized campaign appeal. According to the article at the link.
She is not dropping out of the race, but rather stepping down as the head of the FN so that she can run simply as the Party’s candidate for President.
I would not describe Marine Le Pen as "far right." She represents the forgotten men and women of France that are victims of the EU and French elites.
It will be an interesting election with the EU solidly behind Macron, and nobody supporting Le Pen except the forgotten men and women of France.
The godless EU is headed for chaos and oblivion.
Macron is no centrist. He is in fact a raging Socialist.
Never trust the news propaganda media
MACRON SHORT RESUME....
....FROM AN EARLY AGE HE’S BEEN LEAD ASTRAY....
I anticipated this earlier today. She’d back off from things that clashed with Trump.
Far right! Far right!
Macron is a centrist?? Maybe if you compare him to Bernie. He is a socialist and a globalist.
Yeah, it sucks to have to root for a #Moslem terror attack in France. But....we know they will keep coming, so let one be between now and May 7.
The first polls out for the second round have Macron leading Le Pen by 24 points as the also-rans unite behind him.
The other candidates except Melanchon, the communist have endorsed Macron.
It is not a question of If as much as When.
The rage of the public will rise at that moment, whenever that moment is.
God Forbid but as a practical matter tougher measures need to be taken including immigration controls.
Only Marine Le Pen will do that.
Hardly. Her one chance is to run outside the conventional political lines as a populist and nationalist, above a party identification, and to label her opponent as more of the same (terrorism, cars burning, no go Sharia zones, etc.). That should sound familiar to anyone who followed Trump’s screw-the-Republican-establishment campaign.
He’s a Corporatist, Uniparty politician of the deepest kind.
Sold out to the wedding of big government with big business and big banks.
The system that turns working people into low wage slaves but gives them a liberal social program of abortion, gay marriage and so on in the midst of their enslavement in poverty.
The system that taxes working people while protecting the big banks and big corporations from tax burdens.
The system that is moving cheap labor and money across borders including money from Muslim countries of the Persian Gulf.
Money that funds big banks, corporations and deeply in debt governments making them all beholden to the Islamic $$$$$$ in the long run.
She’s going all in. Gotta respect that.
“I guess she blinked.”
No, actually it’s a smart move - unfortunately I think Macron already did the same thing so it will look like a copy-cat move on her part.
