~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada

Nellis Air Force Base is a United States Air Force installation in southern Nevada with military schools and more squadrons than any other USAF base. Nellis hosts air combat exercises such as Exercise Red Flag and close air support exercises such as Green Flag-West flown in "Military Operations Area (MOA) airspace" associated with the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). The base also has the Combined Air and Space Operations Center-Nellis.

The Nellis AFB mission of advanced combat training for composite strike forces is commonly conducted in conjunction with air and grounds units of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and allied forces. The base also supports operations at the nearby Creech Air Force Base, the Tonopah Test Range and the Nevada National Security Site.

Nellis ground systems for range operations (e.g., by call sign "Nellis Control") include the Computer and Computed Subsystem used to receive microwave signals from the NTTR Ground Based Stations of the Tracking and Communications Subsystem (TCS) for presentation on Nellis' Display and Debrief SubSystem (DDS).

The 365th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Group, headquartered at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, is the Air Force lead for all-source and content-dominant analysis in support of airpower employment, focusing on threat tactics, characteristics, and capabilities from an adversary air, air defense, cruise/ballistic missile, space, and ISR perspective.

Col! You’re getting some time with your son today. Nice since y’all weren’t able to get together over the weekend.

Nice warm-up you’ve gotten too. 70s are perfect. We’ve had 80s the past few days and that’s a little toasty. We went from winter to summer.

Most of the kittehs have behaved this evening but Peregrin was nipping my ankles a little while ago. Now he’s sulking because his lil butt popped. LOL
Pixie’s lying on the floor close by and I keep going over to love on her lil babehs through her belly, bonding with them. :-)

Hey, there! I did get caught up! Had a good day. Even did a bit of cleaning. I try to do a bit at a time so as to not feel like I’m “working”! LOL!

How were things there? Did they get that wildfire put out?

Yay on catching up! I was afraid Peaches might have slipped in last night and ruined your chances.

Cleaning a bit at a time is the only way to do it! LOL

Just another day here but we’re getting a little rain this evening. That makes it a good day.

I haven’t heard anything on the news about that fire so I don’t know if it’s still burning or not. Nashville doesn’t report on things outside Middle TN unless it’s something really big, like Gatlinburg last year. We hope the fire’s been put out.

I was born at the base hospital there in March 1944. Not so much after that my father was attached to the Third Marines and was in the Iwo Jima assault.

I hope it is out. Don’t need another town destroyed like poor Gatlinburg was!

They seemed happy to be out. Now if I can just get Ginger to get the hint tonight. LOL! I won’t pick her up and toss her out. It really has to be their idea so they won’t consider me the bad guy. :)

Are any of your outdoor kitties venturing out yet this spring? How is Pixie doing? I’ll bet she’ll be glad when this pregnancy is over!

I figured you were going for it the same time I was. LOL! Was surprised it was that time already. Been over in Europe checking nests and in OKC watching those silly GHOs. Haven't checked on Didi's bunch in a while. Need to do that now. Bet they're wearing Didi and Jasper out these days.

Freeper Canteen is such a pleasure. I love it because I am a vet and it is so informative to see the other services and duty stations. It makes me proud to be American and to see other Patriots who serve our great country.

I hope it’s out too! It wasn’t close to any towns but there are people who live around that area. We wouldn’t know about it if Hubby hadn’t gone to AL yesterday and driven past it.

We found out the guy who bought our fields is NOT allowing someone to run their dogs. Some guy was doing it all across the county and got busted for it.
So the outside cats are allowed outside again and VERY happy about it. I still make them come in at night, though, because coyotes have been on the farm lately.

Pixie’s getting big as a house and I’d say she’ll be VERY happy to unload those kittens. At least they’re calm, unlike Isis’s kittens. Those were so active ALL THE TIME. I felt so sorry for her the last couple of weeks of her pregnancy.
I figure Pixie has about another week to go.

HOLY COW! I didn’t realize how long it had been since I last checked on Didi’s kiddos. Those owlets have grown!!

Good evening, Robert...pilots defy gravity every day.

I know what they say keeps planes in the air, but....it is amazing.

And test pilots are really something else as well.
