During the 2016 presidential campaign, many observers wondered exactly what motivated voters most: Was it income? Authoritarianism? Racial attitudes?
Let the analyses begin. Last week, the widely respected 2016 American National Election Study was released, sending political scientists into a flurry of data modeling and chart making.
The ANES has been conducted since 1948, at first through in-person surveys, and now also online, with about 1,200 nationally representative respondents answering some questions for about 80 minutes. This incredibly rich, publicly funded data source allows us to put elections into historical perspective, examining how much each factor affected the vote in 2016 compared with other recent elections.

Racism? Stop making excuses for Hillary.
95% of blacks voted twice for Obama but, according to fakestream media, racism had nothing to do with it.
Puhleese.
It’s not because O was black, it was because he was RED.
You make Cankleites weep.
How much BS do I have to read before it explains I’m a racist. And here I thought I was a Russian spy.
See my previous. I think you’ll like the graphic. From this AM’s Pookie’s Toons.
Keep telling your stupid readers lies. There is no way to solve a problem until you first acknowledge that the problem exists and what it is. Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate because she is a very corrupt and hollow person. Until the Democrat/media acknowledge that fact they will keep on losing.
What happened to the Russians did it?
Wow, I just made something up and presented it as a fact! I'm just like the Washington Post!
They still pretend to know what they’re talking about. How did their analysis do in forecasting the last election? They are totally discredited yappers.
There’s fake news and then there’s WaPo fake news. The fakest of the fake.
When your entire existence is defined by your opposition to -isms, you see -isms everywhere you look because you want to see them. Notice that all these supposed motivations attributed to Trump voters are all selfish and all negative. There’s nothing selfish or negative about wanting to make your country great again.
The main reason her Heinous lost was because enough people realized she is more full of shiite than every port a potty on Daytona Beach at the end of Bike Week. Also, Pres Trump is makig small but significant inroads with Blacks, Latinos, Jews, working class people, etc people who traditionally vote Dem and have been taken for granted for decades. IOW, he’s “muscling in” on their racket. Pres Trump is boldly going where no Republican has gone before.
Fake news and Commentary from the dish rag Post.
So sayeth the (almost) lowest tier of so-called “education”: journalism majors.
Uh, we’ll give it a pass.
Under cover of semi-anonymity I confess, Trump was not my first choice, but when I saw how crazy he made the libs and then his ability to survive their counter attacks, well, he became my candidate. I would credit a bad attitude developed over 8 years as the source of my vote. I relished in the left’s angst.
Otherwise, I would have crawled over broken glass to vote against the criminal the dems were running.
“As a Hispanic, Im engaged in self-hate, and voted for Trump.”
So you’re an Uncle Tomás? /s
110% of black precincts voted for Obama is not racially motivated. People vote against the white democrat they are racist. Got it?
I wasn't chosen. Anybody here chosen? Who are these people?
