United Airlines just cant seem to fly under the radar.
A Utah man and his fiancée say a U.S. Marshal booted them Saturday from a Houston flight en route to their Costa Rica wedding after they changed seats without permission the latest in a string of negative headlines for the bedeviled company.

I call BULLS*it on this story.
The ONLY reason a Federal Air Marshal (FAM) would reveal himself and get involved is if there is a threat to the passengers or aircraft.
They DO NOT get involved in anything resembling a small dispute unless........the couple was acting aggressively or attacking the flight crew.
The story is either a fabrication or the couple was not as innocent as portrayed.
Typical anti-authoritarian idiots.
They did a good job of conditioning you. You should be so proud.
Fly SW; you pay extra for a priority position in the boarding line.
Once on board, seating is first come; first serve.
Who is going to pay the extra for the premium seat if they are big enough to take it on their own and hold it against other contenders.
Succinctly said.
Can’t remember the airline but a group of us had a chartered plane. Everyone paid the same price. The attendants demanded we sit in their randomly assigned seats. Parents weren’t allowed to sit with their children. Again, this was OUR plane. No one else was on it but our group. The stewardesses were exceedingly rude about seating.
Never again. If I can’t drive to my destination, I don’t need to go.

Thanks, I’m also glad I was raised right!
Now go back to the Pavlovian drooling over squirrels.

I’ll be more than happy to take time off from that to instruct you on how to post a news story on FR. It might like an overwhelming and difficult task to accomplish - but once you get the hang of it, it’s like riding a bike! Cheers!
Still drooling I see.
peoples positions on planes for take off and initial climb do matter.
If this is correct then I support United kicking their keesters off the airplane.

It’s interesting. I googled the average weight of an airplane and came up with this link:
https://www.quora.com/How-much-do-airliners-typically-weigh-in-tons
from there -
“Airbus A320: Max take off weight 78 tonnes, max landing weight 66 tonnes”
“Boeing 737-800 has a max take-off weight of ~75 tons (Boeing 737). Boeing 747-400 has a max take-off weight of ~450 tons (Boeing 747). There are different weights to be considered, the most common is MTOW maximum take off weight.”

At any rate, if they tell me I gotta move from seat A to seat Z or the plane won’t get off the ground, I’d be getting off anyway. And, as I said, I’d look at a diet plan - I don’t want to cause 100-ton aircraft to crash.....!
yes because we know NOBODY HAS TO FOLLOW THE RULES ANYMORE....so many freepers are so misguided.....

Never rode Thai airlines. Hate to think how desperate I would have to be.
I can almost guarantee that the couple moved from economy to “economy plus”. Seats have a little more leg room. You have to pay for it unless you have frequent flyer status.

It makes my gorge to rise.
United, Chicago (airport) police, Air Marshals, TSA... This is ridiculous. Someone else was in their seats, nothing mentioned about getting that person out. They did, in my opinion, the right thing, find nearby available seats. No where did it say that these were taken or exit row (airlines get specific about those seats). I fly Delta and when there are empty seats, or if someone happens to be in a seat, the air crew have always in my 25+ years of flying them and other airlines, always encouraging to just find a seat. No brainer. United though, resorts again to thugs, this time making the Air Marshals do their dirty work. Shame on them. (And again, trying to soil the reputation of their passengers.)
