In the latest in radical climate doomsaying, a new report warns that fossil fuel consumption will need to be reduced below a quarter of primary energy supply by 2100 to avoid possibly disastrous effects on global temperatures.
In their report, titled Pathways for balancing CO2 emissions and sinks, a team of eight scientists warns that anthropogenic emissions need to peak within the next 10 years, to maintain realistic pathways to meeting the COP21 emissions and warming targets.
The statement was immediately repackaged by environmentalists to read: Scientists say we have ten years to save the earth.
As is always the case in studies of this sort, the scientists juggle dozens of variables, none of which is entirely predictable and which taken together tell us virtually nothing about the future of the environment.

In other words, their grants are depleted in 10 years.
Or as sanfran nan suggested, start using natural gas and get away for fossil fools. I mean fuels.
Works for me!
Although some would say that India never left the stone ages.

I remember thinking at the time that he was getting pretty precise for the type of scam he was running.
>>A guess is an unproven theory! And nothing is absolute in science.<<
The problem with the term “Scientific Theory” is that it is conflated with the general term “theory.”
Most people think there is a hierarchy of science concept:
Guess->Hypothesis->Theory->Law->Axiom
That is NOT how science works.
A Scientific Theory is a tool that is used that accurately describes the mechanisms of phenomena in the physical universe.
For example there is the observed “law “of Gravity.
But there is also the Scientific Theory of Gravity. The Scientific Theory attempts to explain HOW and WHY Gravity works. That theory is one of the newest and least defined in all of science although the law is probably one of the best known and oldest.
The “theory” of AGW is NOT a Scientific Theory as it meets NONE of the criteria for one.
Where is Dr. Paul Ehrlich, when they need him?
Since the eighties. They are such total frauds.
If our engineering modeling tools were as bad as climate models, our electronic devices would stop working and buildings and bridges would all be in a heap.

That is why Science Fiction writers place future events until long after their probable deaths. To avoid dealing with the fact time came and the events didn’t play out (pockets out and hoverboards in October, 2015 anyone?)
Gore should have taken his hint from the other science fiction writers.
They have been saying this since the 1970s. Every generation wants to keep junk science welfare dollars flowing so they can do nothing real, to eat.
I thought the jig was up this year. Didn’t Prince Charles say that?
I remember seeing one of the more extreme examples advocated as a solution to the problem. It was a village in South America, maybe Bolivia. People lived in mud huts. There were picures of dirty, half-naked children. People left practically no environmental footprint. If we have only ten years, which is not much time, I guess that is our future.
How many ten yearses are we going to give these frauds before we call BS and throw a brown flag? This stuff didn’t start with Algore. These dire warnings started with Paul Ehrlich’s dud book, and Ted Danson in the 70s and before.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

The only thing that can save us this time is to transfer massive power and money to educated government officials.
These folks have a worse track record for their fraudulent predictions than the Jehovah’s Witness folks do.
97% of 79 mostly self proclaimed climate scientists not real damning numbers. A few change sides and the numbers gfall apart rather quickly, and a few have already changed.

Algore told us 11 years ago we had only 10 years to save the planet. I guess we get a reprieve and another 10 years to do something. Good news for us.
