Washington, D.C. - At the President and the Press event at the Newseum Wednesday, five members of the White House press corps weighed in on their experience covering the first three months of the Trump presidency.
The audience was especially interested in what CNNs Jim Acosta had to say, considering he has had some rather colorful exchanges with the president in his entertaining press conferences. Acosta, youll remember, was the reporter on the receiving end of Trumps fake news retort back in January after his network reported on the unverified Russian dossier published by BuzzFeed. Acosta, however, has no regrets about pressing Trump for a question.
My feeling is our news organization was being attacked and I felt I deserved a question to challenge him, the journalist said. Speaking truth to power means everything.
That same night, Acosta said he received a message from a fellow reporter at another network who told him he did a great job at the press conference.
I was defending all of us, Acosta texted back.
If he had a do-over, Acosta said he would behave the same exact way. So, perhaps, would Trump, Acosta suggested, noting that Trump enjoys the sparring back and forth.
Acosta may have had unpleasant things to say about the Trump White House, but he claims he doesnt want to isolate those who hold conservative ideologies.
We need Republicans to believe in mainstream news media just as much as Democrats, he said. We need people to trust us.
That may be a tall order. CNNs distaste for the president has been on full display since Trump announced his presidency. During the campaign and even now nearly 100 days into Trumps presidency, the network has aired segments with sarcastically written chyrons intended to troll the president. For instance, in a segment on Trumps remarks about nuclear weapons, they displayed the following: "Trump: I never said Japan should have nukes (he did)."
Who can also forget when Acosta threw a tantrum after Trumps joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he only called on two conservative outlets: The Christianity Broadcasting Network and yours truly, Townhall. The fix is in , Acosta declared.
(It wasnt.)
Battered victim syndrome
The MSM does not have Conservatives’ best interest at heart.
Just sayin'.

Look, people stopped believing in the DNC-Media when the little witches ran to Podesta to OK every piece of Hillary copy. Or when Soros paid main stream journalists to report favorably on Obama’s Iran deal. Or when they screamed lies about Trump, like he removed the bust of Martin Luther King, just to incite racial animus, as if the nation didn’t have enough. Blatant, biased, and coming from every orifice.
Any interview of a Republican is as if the DNC was asking the questions instead of an objective reporter. The flagrant lies of Hillary, Rice and Obama are glossed over. (Where is the follow up of Hillary’s pedophile scandal?) People are sick and tired of the tendentious reporting, the lopsided bias that s so antiquated in this day and age of alternatives, it’s like riding a horse and buggy on the thruway.
We’re done with your crap. Try to earn the trust by being honest. Stop repeating DNC talking points. Get rid of that ridiculous Russian story. You finally stopped screaming about fracking, which was a made up lie supported by Islamic terrorist dollars and Russian money, just in time to join the Trump-Putin-Treason-Tour.
Say something real, that goes against the Democratic party!
Im done with it!
Trust is earned. CNN, the drive-by media in general has not earned it.
THEN QUIT LYING TO US ALL THE TIME!!!
If Jim Acosta handed me an unopened bottle of beer I wouldn’t believe it had beer in it until I opened it and poured some in a glass.
My motto: Trust, but vilify...heh...
Speaking truth to power means everything.———————————————————————————
Unless it is Obama/your favored communist or minority racist.
You’re so right, and CNN leads in that specialty.
To trust CNN would be like trusting your pet Cobra not to bite you. It would be easier for Hillary Clinton to become honest and CNN to report honest news without the Democrat bias
