Gov. Robert Bentley (R) stepped down after being charged with two campaign and ethics violations on the same day that state lawmakers opened impeachment hearings against him. Bentley has fought for more than a year against allegations that he used public resources to carry out and conceal an affair with his former top aide.

According to the state's attorney general office, Bentley pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to covering up the alleged affair, one for failing to file a major contribution report and another for knowingly converting campaign contributions to personal use. This is a developing story. It will be updated.

Yet another professional politician bites the dust.

These people are more concerned with humping the help, than helping the country.

Get um out.

How come Democrats can hide coke in the freezer and get elected again but Republicans have to resign?

Because Republican voters won't stand for it. RAT voters are filth.

Nah. It would say, “Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley—the target of a baseless witchhunt by corrupt Republicans—refuses to step down. . . .”

I hate to see something like this happen to anyone.

I was concerned about the Governor’s compass last year when he rushed to order patriotic flags removed from the Confederate Memorial on state Capitol grounds. Governors who dishonor their own state’s dead soldiers usually can’t be trusted. Florida’s Governor Jeb Bush did something similar years ago and it later turned out that he too lacked strong core values.

A Republican House started impeachment hearings so Bentley was going to be impeached.

A Republican House would not have impeached a Democrat governor. They would have been accused of: bigotry, racism, misogyny, prudishness, gluttony, greed, jealousy, you name it.....

Read in another thread that she was paid over $425,000 last year she worked for him...Meanwhile, he goes around nobly refusing his governor salary...Unbelievable!

Pu$$y and Politics.

Water and Oil

You can shake them together
but they just don’t mix.

Unless you be a democrat.

He could have admi tted to the affair, apologized to his family, and asked forgiveness.

And waded right on through like a democrat.

There’s no fool like an old fool.

I remember reading some time back that the Masons are rat operatives who infiltrated the governor’s office to get rat policies enacted. Bentley did start whining like a rat after he made her his top “advisor”.

Of course, N. Haley, formerly of SC, is the poster girl of this treachery. I believe GWB did something like this in Austin c. 1997.
