Strip away the emotions and moral concerns about the gun industry and whats left is a multibillion-dollar business involving a highly competitive group of manufacturers whose existence depends on steady demand for their products.
The problem is that theyve glutted one of their biggest markets the U.S., which is home to an estimated 300 million guns while the percentage of Americans owning guns has hit a 40-year low.
So how do they keep the cash registers ringing?
By using fear-based marketing and public rhetoric spouted by their political lobbying mouthpiece, the National Rifle Association, to convince those who already own guns that they need more, and by trying to create new streams of customers.

“Got everything back intact!”
Plus a few you didn’t recognize, I’m sure.
“But for a guy who doesnt own any guns, I sure do seem to have a lot of them around!”
Like my Dad used to say when I’d find the Jack Beam bottle under his car seat...
“I’m holding it for a friend.”
Automobiles kill far more people than guns, let’s ban cars! /s/
I don't care where you live, or how thick the media anti gun propaganda is, you've got to be a complete moron to believe that.
Do they think gang bangers and sudden jihad muzzies are part of the privileged 1%?
“maybe somebody could help me decide how many is enough.....”
I once had a client that seemed to be the “gun person” type. I was interested in buying something, and asked him if he knew which store was better.
He laughed - “Yes, you pegged me right. In fact, I need just one more gun too!”
“Huh? Why just one more?”
“Well - that’s what I tell my wife every time I buy a new one!!”
“Oh - I thought maybe it was so you would have an even 100 guns! Ha Ha”
“Oh - I passed that mark years ago.”
“Nobody has to convince me to buy more guns, maybe somebody could help me decide how many is enough..............”
I think that an earlier poster had the right answer for you: See how many you have, and call that number “N.” The correct answer to your question is ALWAYS “N + 1.”
“Not to mention, guns and motorcycles are just so darn pretty.”
This thread could use some gun “porn” and motorcycle “porn,” but I have never figured out how to post pictures on FR.
The National Rifle Association is the oldest and largest civil rights organization in America. To call them a “lobbying group” is pure perfidy.
What is this ENOUGH word?
Kind of like good Scotch or ice cream, it’s never enough.
When I picked up my 4th 1911 this weekend my son asked me if I had enough of them. I don’t know........
