The government can’t seem to decide whether it should affirm children like Hannah. President Trump jumped from supporting workplace protections for transgender people to ending supportive policies for transgender students in public schools. The Supreme Court waffled on whether or not these kids can use the bathrooms of their identified genders, sending the question back to the Fourth Circuit. Last month, North Carolina repealed a law that forced transgender people to use the bathroom corresponding with the gender on their birth certificates, while strangely prohibiting schools from adopting policies that would let transgender students use the bathroom of their choice.
Politicians could learn something from the doctors who treat these patients. Over the past few years, it has become clear that if we support these children in their transgender identities instead of trying to change them, they thrive instead of struggling with anxiety and depression.

When the Daily Mail runs a puff piece about a juvenile transformer, they include statements from the parents, who are always barking mad.
Where in the US Constitution is the central government given the power to do anything about bathrooms in public or private schools? Or in state office buildings? or in retail stores?
The same is true on any and all topics of sex, gender, marriage, abortion, etc.
I have my preferences. You have your preferences. None of us should mis-use the central government to impose our preference on others. The central government has more important things to do ... like finding the money it lost and has no idea where it went.
More specifically, gender is not a social construct. It is fundamental biological reality.
If your are born with XX chromosomes, you are female. If you are born with XY chromosomes, you are male. Nothing any human being can do, to include surgery, can change that fundamental fact.
Now in a free society, people are free to live their lives as they see fit. This can include medical mutilation if they (as an adult) wish, and are willing to pay.
However, the societal pressures to redefine gender absent biological reality is beyond foolish. To do so for a adolescent is worse, they are not addressing the problem, just the symptoms, ill-serving a confused and unhappy teenager.

Doctor’s treat her like a girl now? Does that mean breast exams and pap smears, instead of turn-your-head-and-cough?

XY chromosomes means you are a male.
XX chromosomes means you are a female.
Sex is simple to understand.

My problem is not with what people call themselves cuz’ I really don’t care...when you cross the line and expect ME to pay tribute to your delusions, well, we have a problem.
In a normal, rational world this would read ‘doesn’t change the delusion’.

This is an excellent discussion with a great professor of psychiatry in Canada. At around 45 minutes they discuss transitioning and the issues that surround it. It’s quite a long video but Dr Jordan Peterson is amazing in his grasp of the psychology behind it all.

Do they mean the ones at Johns Hopkins who are now refusing to do "gender reassignment" surgeries?

"Hannah" (not his real name) is a mentally deranged boy, who suffers from the delusion that he's a girl. His "doctors" are idiots and fools who pander to his delusions.

I love the phrase.
I am resistant to pc lingo that implies that I have accepted a false premise.
Trans-ing a gender/sex isn’t any more anatomically possible than changing a chimp into a baboon. Surgeons aren’t gods. They can only manipulate the outer packaging with plastic surgery and add a few chemicals. There is no way to make changes at the cellular level without destroying the organism.
