This morning Judge Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. For such a non-controversial figure, Gorsuch experienced the full might of the Democratic Partys attack machine. Still sour at Senate Republicans blocking Merrick Garland, Obamas first pick to fill the vacancy left by the late Antonin Scalia, through the Biden rulethe Left was determined to stop Gorsuch at all costs. Despite having broad support from across the spectrum in the legal scholar realmObamas former solicitor general supported his nominationand the highest rating from the American Bar Association, Democrats formed a united front to stop him. They had the votes to block Gorsuch through a procedural hurdle, denying Senate Republicans the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture and move to the final confirmation vote. As a result, Senate Republicans nuked the rules, allowing for Gorsuch to be confirmed by a simple majority. Not liking someone because a Republican president nominated him or her isnt a good enough reason to block a judge. Democrats learned that the hard way.
Now, should a second vacancy occur, a) Republicans will not have as much trouble to confirm this person; and b) the composition of the Court could become more decidedly conservative. This is why it was probably best for the Democrats to keep their powder dry, but weve crossed that bridge.

There are many more names on President Trump’s list.
Their suggestions will be taken under advisement. Then promptly ignored. Say good night chuck. “He’s not mainstream, he’s not mainstream.” The humorless chuck says it likes it’s a bad thing.
——I guessing Kennedy in June and Ginsberg by year-end-—
Interesting
Having no clue myself as to the status of the various members of the SCOTUS can you help me out by posting why you think that seems likely
Ginsberg will hold on for a while longer,
Would like to see her in public every so often to prove she is alive.
Wouldn’t put it past the dims to hide her dead body and claim she is still alive.
Yep—they could prop her up on the bench for a year, tip her head forward, and just tell us she’s napping again.
Scalia, Kennedy, Ginsberg and Stevens.
Have you not been paying attention to anything?
Ginsberg isn’t going anywhere if she can help it. They’ll still think she’s napping behind her desk two weeks after she’s gone.
The “Weekend At Buzzi’s” strategy?
I’d declare Trump’s term a victory if he replaces her with Janice Rogers Brown.
Why are you expecting Ginsberg to go voluntarily during a Republican (even though increasingly in name only) administration?
The wise Latina spends too much time at the taco bar.
Have you? Please tell us about all the liberal policies Trump has put in place.
"Weekend at Ruthie's"
Amen. I’ll not ever believe that there wasn’t more to the Scalia death than we know. Due to his position the DOJ/FBI should have immediately secured the site and had the body autopsied. In this day of clandestine assassinations by rogue operatives we need to be certain.
I don’t wish it on anyone but you’re right, they don’t look healthy. Neither does Clarence Thomas. :( But if Scalia made it as far as he did, I suppose they could too.
There were some remarks made in poor taste made by some of the Donks that were revealed by Wikileaks on the day of Scalia’s death referring to “wet works”. I wouldn’t be surprised if Scalia was murdered. Just the location and remoteness of the scene is suspiciously like a scene for murder, with no police, hospital, or even local officials within miles, and it so close to the Mexican border.
Naw...she was just dreaming that...
Psst, Pollutico: DJT has been getting things ready since before the Republican convention. Try to keep up, leftist hacks.
Kennedy shifts the balance only on social issues. Ginzberg shifts it across the spectrum.
Kennedy would still be considered a 55% conservative seat.
Ginzberg is a 100% liberal seat.
But she’s not retiring. My sense is that she thinks that this is the only fun stuff she does so she’ll die in the seat. Otherwise, she would have retired under Obama.
In the back of my mind, it’s possible she admitted to herself that Obama is anti-semitic, and she wanted to block him from shaping the court.
Something explains her not retiring under Barack.
