Oh yes. I do too.

There’s the useful stuff,
The Gushing sentimental stuff,
The Haughty stuff,
And the Potty-Mouth stuff.

And of course, on any Wagner thread, someone ALWAYS mentions THE WAR.

Mentioning the war is actually rather apt. Wagner was one of Hitler's cultural godfathers, even though the composer died six years before Hitler was born.

If you want to see how Wagner affected the movement, look at newsreels of the funerals of Nazi militia members killed in street fighting during the Weimar years. Then compare the footage to "Entrance of the Gods into Valhalla" from "Das Rheingold." The influence of Wagner is unmistakable.

Sometimes I think commenters at Youtube are just 14 year olds who think it’s cool to say f*ck as much as possible.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEORGE GERSHWIN

OH, KAY!

ELLA FITZGERALD: “MAYBE”

This is a minimalist approach: just Ella and a piano. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Ella Fitzgerald: “Maybe”

I I know, and Cosima Wagner was best buddies with Hitler. So I do get the connection, but it’s on every wagner thread, even if it’s just “here Comes the Bride”.

Yes, it’s overkill. For some, it’s hard to let go.

I’m experiencing a significant windstorm here, so if I disappear tonight without notice, it’s because I lost power. The lights are flickering. If I disappear, I’ll post the rest of tonight’s work when things return to normal. Cross your fingers.

Hey there, radu...((HUGS))...a good weather day?

I got my Mom an appointment at the pain center and next Friday I will take her and I’m hoping against hope that she can have “jello” shots. They only last 6-9 months, or maybe a year as she doesn’t use her knees much. But....I had them several years ago and what a huge difference. They said Medicare is about the only one that does pay some.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEORGE GERSHWIN

OH, KAY!

SARAH VAUGHAN: “MAYBE”

This is a totally different approach from Ella. Sassy’s 1955 recording is pure Big Band.

Sarah Vaughan: “Maybe”

Indeed.

Used as a noun, verb, adjective, gerund, abverb, and even a complete sentence.

I may have posted this before, but we did a lot of Gershwin in Spirit of Atlanta.

You can actually see me, one of the Contras, as we're leaving the field.
