The University of Harvard has announced plans to change the last line of its 181-year-old Fair Harvard hymn because some people feel it is insufficiently inclusive.
The Fair Harvard anthem, which has been sung since the mid-1800s, is used by all incoming and leaving students of Harvard at commencements and other major events. Its known sometimes to bring its performers arm-in-arm in a show of solidarity.
On Wednesday, however, it was announced that the anthem will undergo a 21st century update to change its last line,Till the stock of the Puritans die, in order to reflect the modern times.

Can’t make this stuff up - he tried to say.
Just change their anthem to that “We are the World” song from the 1980’s
that’s “inclusive,” and also soft, saccharine, and meaningless.
Will be a perfect fit for what they will ultimately achieve.
Best thing that could happen to this country is to obliterate all of the Ivy League schools and any others turning out ‘elites’.
My ancestor Comfort Starr was one of the original 5 Fellows to sign the Harvard charter in 1650 and was definitely a Puritan. So sad to see what these people did and believed so flippantly discarded in the name of inclusiveness and “progress”.
No I think the first was right on the money. As in making up pandering to perpetual pansies who are without hope and shouldn’t be anywhere near adult higher education.
I’m not a Harvard man and didn’t know the song, so I looked it up.
Fair Harvard! we join in thy Jubilee throng,
And with blessings surrender thee oer
By these Festival-rites, from the Age that is past,
To the Age that is waiting before.
O Relic and Type of our ancestors worth,
That hast long kept their memory warm,
First flowr of their wilderness! Star of their night!
Calm rising thro’ change and thro’ storm.
Farewell! be thy destinies onward and bright!
To thy children the lesson still give,
With freedom to think, and with patience to bear,
And for Right ever bravely to live.
Let not moss-covered Error moor thee at its side,
As the world on Truths current glides by,
Be the herald of Light, and the bearer of Love,
Till the stock of the Puritans die.
Sounds to me that a lot of this no longer applies to Harvard, or a lot of universities, and they should just chuck the whole thing.
What are they going to do with “10,000 Men of Harvard”?
Sounds like they want to still be a school after the stock of the Puritans are ethnically cleansed and genocidally murdered.
Fair Harvard? How racist!!
“The 10,000 LGBTs of Harvard”.
From “Fair Harvard” to “Unfair Affirmative Action Harvard”.
Changing the anthem makes sense as, quite clearly, the stock of the Puritans has in fact died and been replaced by pussies.
The puritans are doing fine and are solidly in charge.
How about “til the stock of the liberal nutcases die”? That pretty much includes everyone at Harvard I think.
Only at Haaavaaaad! (I wish)
And this is supposed to be an educational institution. Now they are essentially erasing the history of their own institution - if it were a racist phrase or something that would make sense...but it is just a historic phrase and they want to change it for “inclusiveness”? This is beyond stupid. I thought people at Harvard were supposed to be intelligent?
This removal of that last line reminds me of Winston Smith at the Ministry of Truth. The record is being "rectified" in order to alter Harvard's unseemly past.

I do know the Harvard guys couldn’t write a good episode of Itchy and Scratchy.
When that happens, they can change to name to something appropriately Third Worldish.
