It only levels the playing field back to 4 vs 4 with Kennedy remaining the most powerful man in the US. We still need to get one more solid conservative in there, to replace one of the commie dimwits or Kennedy. Maybe even a couple of more. But, this only gets back the loss with we lost one of the best we ever had on the Supremes.

There will be no reform acceptable to the Lovers of Losing even Rance Paul has admitted as much. You can do anything to the House bill but most won’t survive the Senate then you are back to square one with ALL the negatives of Obamacare in place for months or years.

The longer it exists complete the harder it will be to repeal. Even repealing a little will start the process. No one has said that nothing more will be done.

Not good strategic thinking. Generals who think like that lose wars.

Finally I have something to extend kudos to McConnell. He finally grew a spine. Now if he can keep it that would be nice.

From Rush there is still 30 hours allowed for filibuster.

They also changed the debate time from 30 hours down to 8 hours.

Couldn’t resist tweeting Harry Reid to thank him for setting the ‘Reid Precedent’ - a maneuver that will go down in history as one of the greatest boomerangs ever.

@SenatorReid

Can somebody please explain why the Senate is still talking if the cloture vote is already done?

What will they be like when they have no more power to abuse?

Schumer is evidently not content to merely be the minority; he wants to lose even more seats in the midterms.

Sneaky scumbag Schumer needs to keep wearing pink panties and scoot on down the road.

Seeing that picture of Reid with that eye made me see the irony. There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see.

[Anyone deserves a good nuking, its the Leftists.]

Absolutely. They forced the disastrous and idiotic Obamacare upon this nation; I haven’t the least bit of sympathy for them.

The effect of a cloture vote, either way, is to continue debate. If cloture fails, debate goes on for an indefinite period. If cloture passes, debate goes for a time-limited period. The time limited period is 30 hours under the rule, but the rule can be amended or waived by unanimous consent. It has happened that "the vote" was taken immediately after passage of cloture, but that was by unanimous consent.

The dysfunctional senate, instead of using cloture for its designed purpose, use it as a minority veto device. That is, when cloture fails, instead of debating until the body is informed enough to render a decision, the body drops the subject (minority veto).

The RINOs and their donors know they need business-friendly judges. The deal was that Trump would nominate the justice least likely to be a social conservative on his list so that McConnell and the RINOs could throw unwavering support behind him.

I don’t think the filibuster rule ever applied to the Dems anyway when it came to nominations. They always had enough RINOs that would flip over to whoever they wanted to confirm. So it was a one-sided rule that only held back Repubs.

A few talking heads say that a Supreme Court Justice wants to announce his retirement in June. If it’s middleman Kennedy, Trump can move the court to the right.

And decrease the "pervert" SC justice representation by at least a third...

Glad to hear this - a white pill for the day. I guess Mitch finally got fed up with being kicked in the sack.
