More precisely, if the NAYS prevail (they did), the Senate "kills the filibuster." All McConnell did was cause the question to be put to the deciding body.

YES: 55
NO: 45

Vote for Gorsuch is tomorrow I think. But could be today. Not sure.

Now he is voting with them this time but that other vote would have effectively killed the nomination if it had gone the way he voted. He shouldn’t be allowed to get by with this in the upcoming re-election campaign.

I count 54 votes for cloture...I could be off by one or two, but it’s over 50.

Rest assured the Democrats will probably take that entire 30 hours of debate before the vote can take place. I would say the vote on confirmation will probably be tomorrow.

All that happened today was status quo was preserved. The GOP wouldn't use minority veto to block the appointment of a communist to SCOTUS, so nothing is lost to either side today.

Disagree. Trump and the country won bigly today. Trump can point to the fulfillment of a major campaign promise to appoint an originalist to SCOTUS to replace Scalia. The Dems died on Mt. Gorsuch this afternoon further infuriating their base who will become more desperate and extreme.

The next appointment to SCOTUS will be decided on a majority vote. Let's hope that Trump has some more opportunities to fill vacant SCOTUS positions.

You’re correct, I used McConnell but meant the Senate. Thanks for the clarify. On the other hand, the Republicans really need to rub this in the DIMs wound, by saying ‘now that the Reid Rule has been invoked....”

-- Next the vote on Gorsuch. --

I wonder if the Senate will waive the 30 hours of debate.

Cornyn doing a good job of summarizing the DEM-instituted dysfunction of minority veto of judicial nominees. The dysfunction started in 2001.

Looks like another WIN, this time for the Constitution !
I am running out of room to store all these wins.

Congrats to Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Hopefully this will be the beginning of something great.

I have my questions about Judge Gorsuch but hopefully he is everything I hope he can be.

I pray lives of the unborn can someday be protected again in the near future. Otherwise I fear for our country in the eyes of God.

I think you are correct. 30 more hours of Dem stalling.
