Knoxville, Tenn., could be the first city in the U.S. where Obamacare completely collapses, leaving tens of thousands of people without the option to buy a subsidized insurance policy.
Humana, the citys only remaining insurance provider on its Obamacare exchange, announced it is exiting the market in 2018. If that happens, Knoxville citizens will be in a rough spot. Unless another insurance provider fills Humanas place, some 40,000 people in the Knoxville area will likely be left without the option to purchase an Obamacare-subsidized insurance policy, CNN reports.
Knoxville is illustrative of one of the main problems with Obamacare: It doesnt promote market-based competition. Insurers pull out of marketplaces where it is not cost-efficient for them to provide services, and, as a result, consumers are left with fewer options at higher prices

Repeal it.
Promote market-based competition.
Remove regulations which hamper the marketplace.
Done.
Wow, didn’t see that coming, said no thinking person ever.
Just make it an open market- let anyone do any kind of insurance they want.
Let Obamacare stay in place... it will die while everyone else gets better insurance.
Remove ALL LAWS restricting other forms of insurance or prohibitions across state lines.
AND LINE UP ALL MALPRACTICE LAWYERS AGAINST THE WALL
....if you can find a doctor, keep it to yourself. How long before the MSM drops “odungocare” completely?
Those heartless conservatives stopped Paul Ryan from rescuing Obamacare...../s
Right! Designed to fail so they can say Govt save us!

..** it will die while everyone else gets better insurance**
Let Obamacare stay in place... it will die while everyone else gets better insurance.
This!!
If you like your ObamaCare, you can keep your ObamaCare..................
Insurance companies will always pull out of states which have populations with lower incomes and gravitate to states favorable in ‘paying’ for better coverage.
If you look at the maps where they’re pulling out..it reveals much.
Don’t worry - the State or someone in Fed.gov will promise the crony-capitalist insurance companies some more money to serve the market.
Extend and pretend.
Right — and you probably don’t even need a new law to do that. Just have the HHS secretary issue a blanket Obamacare waiver for any insurer that wants to sell health insurance plans that meet the regulatory requirements of the states where it sells insurance.
You have to admit they succeeded in bending the cost curve - and stuck it right up the nation’s jacksy.
On a serious note, with the astronomical increases in hundreds of millions of people’s insurance payments in such a short span of time, shouldn’t we have seen at least some improvement in care, facilities, doctors, waiting times, etc. etc.?
Uninsured/underinsured/poor citizens getting a handout can’t account for the entire sum that has been confiscated.
So where has the money gone, exactly?
Agreed. Repeal that terrible law. Replace it with economic freedom.
And remove all exemptions, especially the House and Senate. Bring those scoundrels to the crap sandwich buffet.
That's a no-brainer. But what's happening here is that under Obamacare, the states with lower incomes were forced to have insurance companies sell policies with mandatory coverage that was tailored to states with higher incomes. This was the equivalent of having the FAA force every airline to eliminate its coach fares and only operate passenger flights with first-class accommodations. Would anyone be surprised if every airline pulled out of Memphis and Little Rock under those conditions, and only operated out of big cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles?
Title should read: First city not able to buy ins. with other peoples money.
They'll have to pay the fine for not buying the insurance, then get their "care" paid for on the gubmint dime.
Dozens of little puddle-jumper air services would spring up overnight to serve the smaller markets, now that government is less inclined to interfere.
