Then-National Security Adviser Susan Rice did at times ask that certain names in intelligence reports be “unmasked” in order to understand the context in which they were mentioned in intelligence reports, a former national security official told CBS News.
Rice asked for the identities of those Americans picked up during surveillance of foreign nationals when it was deemed important context for national security, and she did not ask that the information be disseminated broadly, according to this former official.
A Monday report by Bloomberg’s Eli Lake said that Rice requested the unmasking of Trump officials. Names of Americans swept up incidentally in the collection of intelligence are normally masked, or kept redacted, in intelligence briefings.

She is NOT going to deny that she requested the 'unmasks'. They are going to play the national security angle.
Reading the article, it’s obvious they are trying to spin this as something that was not political but of “national security.” They give just enough facts while omitting damning info in order the confuse the reader rather than enlighten. For example, they don’t give the time frame of surveillance... Nearly a year... Nor even mention that personal calls and family calls were captured.
The fact that Rice recently denied any knowledge of something that she herself did dozens of times is evidence that it WAS something she wanted to hide.

The times have changed. An example: In the past an
analyst working on a study finds an NSA report that indicates that a former President, a Governor, and a Congressmen are all involved in the activity and benefit from their relationship with a very shady Muslim bank. The analyst who wants to use the NSA reports then goes to his boss, who goes to his boss, who goes to the NSA, and a panel convened receives the report prepared by the analyst with the original NSA info and the redacted paragraphs included. The panel allows two of three recommendations. However, the study is then so highly classified that only God can read it.
Hopefully, you get the picture. Obama allowed such NSA material to be spread throughout the Intel community and it did so without the traditional oversight that was in place for years.
Either Eli Lake or Susan Rice is lying who do you trust?
Two questions:
1. Is this author related to John Brennan, the crook?
2. After Comey told us that officials can lawfully lie to the news media about confidential things that offcials can then not correct, why should any anonymous sources be believed on ANYTHING?
