Fox News, The Daily Mail and Bloomberg News are all reporting the unmaking requests of collected surveillance activity was made by President Obama’s former National Security Adviser Susan Rice.
However, it remains unclear if Rice just made the unmasking requests, or if she herself did the unmasking. Additionally, reporting by all three media outlets claims the surveillance of the Trump campaign encompassed more than a year.

I just saw a 15 minute segment on CNN that refused to mention Rice and said Trump is a criminal put in by the Russians.
They kept cutting to McCain and Graham too.

Yes. This is not about collecing Rice’s scalp, it’s the ongoing and pervasive surveillance. And it probably does go back to Bush, which explains why both sides are trying to keep it suppressed.
Suppose it’s true, that NSA has been collecting not just metadata but actual content just like Ed Snowden said, and for years and years. Which politician is going to be the first to open that Pandora’s Box?
If it were possible to hang something that big on one party, the other party would have already gleefully done so.
