President Trump’s Education Department has decided to nix an Obama-era grant program meant to help local districts devise ways to boost socioeconomic diversity within their schools, a program that some advocates considered a barometer of the new administration’s commitment to integrated classrooms.

If I may...I believe the point was if Politicos and Upper Crust types were forced to send their kids to public schools, there’d be an enormous upswing in academic improvement. Teacher/Admin accountability etc etc

You should ask your Mom and Dad when they get home from work what happens to Societies when there are Special Rules and Laws for Special People. In other words, when the LAW and other Programs favor one over another.

When Politicians and the Ruling Class are in the EXACT same programs and institutions as the average citizens are, they will Fix ALL the Problems overnight.

Why don’t you look at your post again. You said there should be no private schools. Who are you to decide about what educational choices should exist? You must be the dictator.

Get a grip on yourself. I don’t believe the Congress critters should be exempt from healthcare but I don’t believe in restricting school choice for anyone. I believe in the gradual elimination of public schools through enabling parents to choose the school that’s right for their family with vouchers or credits. Children deserve education not indoctrination.

If you are foolish enough to think that our public schools could be “fixed” overnight, or with money or by fiat from bureaucrats you need more help than I can give you.

Start by reading the history of public school education, looking at the funding & results of grants, look at the decline of achievements. Look at the white flight resulting from bureaucrats trying to legislate improvements and what that did to the communities they left. Look at what the union has done by protecting teachers who can’t teach.

If you truly care about each child failed by our school system and the travesty that is education in the American Public Schools you will stop trying to cram any child back into a failing system and join the clamor for school choice.

Unfortunately the point was erroneous. Its the kind of armchair, “let me throw a dart at it” thinking that the elites have used to screw up society so badly.

Let me see.
The private schools are doing a better job, - off with their heads.
The private schools employ 100’s of thousands of Americans - close them all.
The public schools function poorly & are overcrowded - dump millions more into the system overnight.

We have thrown $$$$ into the public schools. Our cost per pupil is more than at many private schools, rising every year, and the kids can’t read can’t do math but suddenly if we throw more kids into the schools their rich & influential parents with be able to turn it around on a dime.

What is this guy smoking? Why wouldn’t you try and get private school education for as many kids as you could with the same or less$. Close the worst public schools, improve what’s left or better yet contract them out to private companies.

Good call, they did that in the UK.

Now everyone waits years for their surgery, six months to see a doctor. The best gift you can give your Mom is a privately paid for total hip surgery because otherwise she’s waiting 6 years in excruciating pain. If you are overage you can’t get treatment.

Yep single payer is the bomb!

“some advocates considered a barometer of the new administration’s commitment to integrated classrooms”

Does being around whites make blacks do better? Are whites magic?

You should try reading what I actually said instead of what you think I said.

When the Politicians,Bureaucrats, and the Ruling Class are Required to Live under the Same Rules and Laws and required to put their Children in to the Exact Same Institutions as the General Citizenry. ALL of the Problems will be solved overnight.

You said exactly what I quoted. Its a crackpot solution not based on real world conditions and requiring loss of Freedom and choice for all Americans. Who is going to require me to put my child in a specific institution, no choice no Freedom? Perhaps go back to Germany where they jail homeschooling parents and take their children?

No, the Africans are the disrupters and simply can’t compete in the academic arena. There is a thing called the Bell IQ curve that adds the science to the issue. The lies that have been used to undermine the truth, are simply irrelevant and diversity is the new way to cheat.

Well aware, I’ve got one in college and one in 4th grade. The college one spent her first year taking classes just to qualify for the prereqs for her degree program. And she had a high GPA in high school.

But this passing kids along for ‘social’ reasons is nothing new. It’s been going on since the mid 60’s.

It’s not fair to use the Bell curve that way. While the average of the parameters of intelligence we measure that way is higher in Caucasians & higher still in Asians, any individual child may be black, white or Asian and still be above average in intellect or below.

Please do not confuse the effects of the Democratic plantations & cynical entitlement schemes with the potential of every human being. The ground rules of the game need to be reset to reward intelligence, productivity, drive and ambition.

“Unfortunately the point was erroneous. Its the kind of armchair, “

It’s the same theory many continue to use with Obamacare. Force congress/elites/etc to enroll in Obamacare and that’ll fix it.

I’m not saying in either education or healthcare the theory would perform as implied, simply pointing out that IS the theory.

You are right. It is the theory.

How ever its an apples & oranges comparison.

There are very few Congress critters compared to Americans on Obamacare, a drop in the bucket. Removing their waiver so that Congress critters would have to conform would not remove Healthcare choices from the critters just add consequences. The people that the solution would effect are in one case innocent children & in the other the “children of no named father” that caused the problem.

I also think the public schools are not salvageable and Obamacare could be easily repealed and Healthcare oversight returned to the states and the majority of citizens freed to buy plans that meet their needs.

It’s a simple theory that if decisions applied to decision maker as well, perhaps decisions would be better. In other words, apples and oranges would be better if the producer were also forced to partake.

I am referring to the measures of central tendency (i.e. average, median) across races. There are outliers (i.e. Exceptions) at each end of the curves by race. Contrary to what people want to admit, there are rather dramatic differences in the average IQs across some races. These are the unpleasant truths, amd denying them won’t change them.

I understand the theory and agree but I think it has limited applicability. Like the bed of Procrustes its a theory that often requires the amputation of vital parts of the subject at hand in being applied.

Lawmakers should be making laws in the interests of their constituents and of the USA regardless of their own monetary gain. When they don’t they are wrong. They should not be shielded from the laws they pass.

Parents who chose homeschooling, religious schools, private schools did not make the mess the public schools have become nor could they fix it. Most of those parents are struggling to give their children the best chance at life, only a few are legislators or GV’t people. Lawmakers can only fix the school situation by privatizing it. That is the nature of bureaucracies & unions. Once they have grown they must be abandoned not tinkered with. There is no “overnight solution” and to suggest such is irresponsible.

In my eyes we become the problem when we spout off solutions that are only meant to verbalize anger and resentment not actually solve problems.
