HOW TO SPEND THE DASH

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
he referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning....to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered the most of all
was the dash between those years.

For the dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth......
and now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars...the house...the cash.
what matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard
are there things you'd like to change?
for you never know how much time is left.
(you could be at "dash mid-range.")

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile.......
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
with your life's actions to rehash.....
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent your DASH?

To the world you may be one person,
But to one person you may be the world!

Awesome! You’ve waited quite a while for comfy weather to move in so you could do stuff outside. Glad you had another nice day for it.

We cooled off a wee bit the past two days after the front came through but daytime temps have still been comfy. Nights are a bit brisk though.

It was a lazy day for me. Spent quite a while on the phone with an old friend then checked in on all the bird cams. Then it was time to get humpin’ and feed the kittehs and us. Must have stuffed the kittehs because they’re splatted all through the house like road kill. LOL

No...I had been squirting it on the shaved area and letting him lick it off. He hated me, though.

I did just find a better way tonight. Turns out he LOVES my black cherry yogurt so I’m going to stir it up in it to give it to him. He’ll love me instead.

As a matter of fact, I just tried it and it worked like a charm! Never knew the difference. LOL!

Poor Penny....having to wait ALL day. Hope spring is close.

Now it’s 43, but the sun seems to have given up on making a full appearance.

Too late to get any pix now. I have a Latvian black stork nest cam up right now and it’s dawn there. Birds are raising a ruckus in the forest and one was REAL close to the mic for a minute. It got everyone’s attention REAL quick! LOL!

YAY!!! You found an easy way to dose him! Now you know how to do it in the future should you have to give him meds for some reason. Makes like easier for all concerned. :-)

Very little peace...things are getting worse, especially the hallucinations. She is seeing so many signs, and now they are “personalized”. I heard her tell my sister on the phone that when she sees “Stan”, who lives across the street, that she will tell him that his signs are not appropriate. Over the past few days there have been signs with her name saying she had a stun gun and would use it; and a couple signs with not only my Dad’s name, but his name with his middle initial. No matter how many times I tell her there are no signs she just keeps talking as if I have said nothing. My sister said the same thing is happening when she calls.

Monday will be calls to Hospice of Anchorage to come and make a home assessment, and to the doctor and ask about some kind of medication to help with hallucinations. If there is something that can be done, I will make an appointment and ask the neighbor to help me get her downstairs. I have a wheelchair downstairs and can wheel her out to the car. This is all presuming that she can transition from chair to car seat. Walking is almost nil this past week. It’s time. She wants to be with my Dad. *sigh*

Even with no sun, I noticed the streets were looking better this evening. If the temps will stay above freezing overnight, that’ll help a lot. Sunshine forecast for tomorrow by chance?

Yes, a quiet day here. Even the kittehs have been pretty quiet, which is nice.
