Hey all cultures are equal. How dare you disparage those cultures that just wanted to murder people, you cultural imperialists!
good one
All uncivilized and tribal types are aberrated. Even American natives routinely practiced horrific torture on one another when they fought and took prisoners./p>
Incredible book written many decades after the Conquest. He describes friends of his being sacrificed on the big pyramid. Because he was a foot soldier (as opposed to an academic historian) his style is very readable. I like the fact that he can remember the names of several horses, but can’t quite seem to recall the name of the priest who was with them.
And yes, the Spanish did the world a favor by destroying the Aztecs.
“So what.
We do too.
It’s called Planned Parenthood. “

As an aside, probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen was on this topic. “Aztec Rex”.
Two years before his encounter with Montezuma, Cortes has a hushed up earlier mission. He and his band of Conquistadores discovered a small tribe of Aztecs who sacrifice their own people to satisfy the hunger of the T-Rex living in the jungle.
Lots of smoking hot Aztec girls in leather bikinis. Spaniards haven’t seen women in a while, and the local girls want to be sure nobody thinks they are a virgin! Muskets and a Spanish cannon against a T-rex. The Aztecs and Spanish have to join forces to fight the awful CGI T-rex.
It should be seen in a drive in theater only. You’ve been warned.
Indeed... There are THOUSANDS of those rooms.
Abortion Centers?
This is a bunch of BS. I hate how the interpretation of a few spanish friars turns everything Mayan and Aztec into a human torture/sacrifice. Its all complete BS and if you go down there and talk to the people they will tell you the same thing.
You have it exactly backwards. It was Spanish friars who attempted to rewrite the history of the Conquest. They wrote their versions many years after the Conquest.
Bernal Diaz’ account is the only existing first person account. There are verbal mythologies from events that occurred 500 years ago. They are not credible.
The Friars also worked hard to prevent the enslavement of indigenous people by the Conquistadors. The Church forbade the enslavement. Ever wonder why Mexico did not develop the slave dependent culture of Brazil? That is one major reason.
How is “talking to the people” any worthwhile source? It is completely corrupted by the current rewriting of history that everything the Europeans did was evil and wrong. Not credible.
There is all kinds of archeological corraboration of human sacrifice and cannibalism.
You’re right - one totally disgusting culture. A study in ‘When Sociopaths Rule’...
I don’t know about anyone else, but I vote yours as the post of the day!
P4L
The multiculturalists are all down on Cortez, when taking out the Aztecs was simply a necessary and moral thing to do, and was only able to be accomplished with considerable assistance from subject tribes who had been forced to cough up human sacrifices for generations.
The multiculturalists do not stand on any sort of moral high ground, despite their loud and insistent assertions that they do.
Are they sure it wasn’t the kitchen?
GREAT point..!!
They were a pagan mass murdering culture based on slavery. The Spanish weren’t monolithic. Lots of witnesses well documented what they saw. Not all were priests. Many were Spanish Jews fleeing Spain. Conquistadors were often Soldiers at odds with the Priests.
And seriously? Talking to people down there tells you what exactly? That’s astonishing ignorance. Might as well ask someone in Egypt today about details of Ramses II and the Pyramids.
Hell, most people cant speak with authority about the deep motivations and behaviors of their great great grandfather.
And you’re asking some modern Mexican about the behavior of the Aztecs. lol
He controlled all cultures back then, just as he does now.
You are right on all points. They were pagan barbarians and, as you say, the culture of death is evident today in the cartels and gangs.
Now, now. All cultures are equal. /sarc
