In an interview with National Journal, the Republican senator who has been in office since 1976 said he "might very well consider" not campaigning for another term if an "outstanding person" were to run for his position.
.
.
.
Asked if he had any people in mind, Hatch replied: "Well, Mitt Romney would be perfect." He added that he has reached out to Romney about the idea.

Does this former governor of Massachusetts even live in Utah?

Every Senator and every Presdient should be limited to one single solitary term.

One and done.

House of Reps: No more than 6 years total service. Need not be consecutive.

Sen Hatch, you are twice the man of Romney. Do not give him your seat.

When he ran for reelection the last time, he said it would be his last. Mark Levin endorsed Hatch over a real conservative. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Is Romney a resident of Utah?

Perhaps Mitt SHOULD be in the Senate.

He certainly looks the part of a distinguished citizen, who has made something of himself in both private life and as a governor of a state. To be sure, he does not come across as particularly conservative, but then, the Republicans of Utah, mostly Mormon, are not particularly conservative, either. But they do value thrift to the point of frugality and hard work to the point of staying at difficult tasks long beyond the normal hours.

When you look up the definition of a RINO a$$hole in the dictionary, there is a picture of Orrin Hatch. Romney would be just as bad, if not worse. The GOP can do better in Utah.

Romney lived in SoCal last time I checked. Makes no difference. He has plenty of time to move.

Besides, nobody seems to pay close attention. Nancy Pelosi lives in Napa county, about 40 miles north of he district. She just maintains a house in the city for fund raising. I don't see any reason why Mit can't keep his beach house and just "visit" it when he's not in DC representing the interests of the government to the people of Utah.

Any chance the fastidious Sen. Hatch has some skeletons he doesn’t want a Weiner investigation to rattle in his closet?

EXCUSE ME MR. HATCH, but I think we VOTERS in Utah have something to say about that, and Josh Romney is thinking of running for Governor of Utah and his mother told him she is behind him on this...

What we are going to have ROMNEY KINGDOM HOOD now, we have had the Bushes, the Clintons and we will NEVER have the Obamas, and we ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE THE ROMNEY either, nor are we going to have the TRUMP KINGDOM HOOD...so Ivanka, what ever your ideas are, REMOVE them!!!

Oh, for heaven’s sake, will we never be rid of this phony? Come on, Utah, you can do better than Flip Romney.

I’ll never forget that. To say Levin endorsed Hatch was a major understatement. He played old sound clips of Hatch trying to bolster his bona fides and excoriated anyone who said he wasn’t a True Conservative.

Now that he’s been dining on crow the last 5 years, it seems he’s finally learned his lesson. I’ll definitely take Romney over that putz Egg McMuffin, though.

How about a reverse-seniority plan. Freshmen get the most power in the Legislature!

For many years he had a vacation home at the ski resort Deer Valley (near Park City, UT). I seem to recall that he sold it some time after the 2002 Winter Olympics.
