Agreed. And the rising cost of the garbage coming our of the Washington bureaucracy is directly related to the absurdity of allowing a distant bureaucracy to interfere, functionally, with anything as intensely local & immediate as the relationship between a physician & a patient. (Medical practice should not be governed by a bureaucratic check list!)

Trump had said he was done negotiating so HFC had nothing left to change. HFC’s big mistake was ever negotiating at all. They should have said no from the get go, taken the hit, and kept it from getting so far.

I think they’ve made an enemy with Trump as he thinks he’s been double-crossed.

Freedom Caucus is not the problem. Lots of so called moderates hated this bill too. The problem is Ryan. Sadly no conservative stepped forward when Johnny B. resigned

We rebelled against a tyrannical king for a lot less than this!

Back before we got hooked on Fedzilla contrived "entitlements", and yes, it is later than we think.

This is just as I suspected; glad to see it confirmed.

Exactly right.

Which part of REPEAL do you people not understand.

REPEAL NOW.

If you don’t vote for a full repeal, then you are a part of the swamp that needs to be drained.

The “We” here is President Trump.

Trump is a fantastic salesman/showman.

The problem is that he tends to sell the sizzle and not the steak. That’s fine in real estate. Health insurance is probably the one thing where Americans want to be bored with details.

Trump didn’t give the impression that he had read a summary of Ryan’s bill, let alone the bill itself.

If he ever goes back to this, it’s one time where he needs to do his homework.

“I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.”

The government’s going to pay for it. But we’re going to save so much money on the other side,” he said.

But for the most it’s going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.”

- Donald J. Trump

That is what made America great,
moral men practicing Capitalism.
Today we seem to lack both.

Brat has many good points. There are a couple things in his proposal that would not pass reconciliation so would be DOA in the Senate. Trump's plan was to get something through the Senate. That is really only a strategic difference and FC members said that getting rid of insurance plan criteria would have made Trump's plan acceptable.

Bottom line was Trump/Ryan failed to grasp that the "appease the left" aspects of mandatory coverage for this or that was the deal killer for FC conservatives. They should have manned up and removed that feature, then the plan would have passed, warts and all.

I backed Trump as much as I could. I still do, as much as I can. I appreciate many things he’s already done.

This Ryancare bill is simply not what was promised or desired.

Heck NO! NO NO NO NO!

Thanks for doing your best to wake folks out of their stupor.

Government health care is GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE!

Sheesh!!!!

“That means NOTHING
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
He doesn’t control what is in Phase 2.”

I disagree. Trump does not have to sign the bill. Myself I would rather have it in phase 1.

HFC’s big mistake was ever negotiating at all. They should have said no from the getgo, taken the hit...

Exactly right, except IMO they could have done it without taking any hit at all.

They should have said in a clear and loud public voice,
"We will not negotiate a revision of OCare, we are only interested in negotiating what taxpayers have demanded - that we repeal Ocare and remove government from the healthcare marketplace in a way that causes the least pain to the taxpayers."

They could have worked with both chambers and coordinated with major health care providers to announce new programs that would fill the void.

Truth be told, Ryan has demonstrated how ineffectual he is at representing the public that they could ignore him and start doing that this afternoon.

Those void filling programs didn’t exist in 2007.

Why would they exist now?

If Obamacare goes away, the vast majority of people who would lose insurance are those who were part of the Medicaid expansion. Carriers don’t make their money selling Managed Medicaid plans. They make their money in fees managing these plans for the various states.

I simply don’t see any payer jumping in trying to grab the “slightly too much income for Medicaid” crowd.

Yeah, well, he’s sworn an oath now to uphold the constitution. It’s not his constitutional duty to “take care of everybody.” He has no constitutional authority to do so. The federal government has no constitutional authority to stick its big fat tyrannical nose into the private free market insurance or health care industries.

So fugetaboutit already.
