However, multiple reports have pointed out that Gorsuch and his wife attend St. John's, Boulder a liberal Episcopal church headed by a very liberal, pro-LGBT female rector named Rev. Susan Springer.
Opposition to Gorsuch's affiliation with St. John's was voiced even before he was nominated.
Christian conservative activist and lawyer Andy Schlafly, the son of the late pro-life leader Phyllis Schlafly, voiced his concern over the possible nomination of Gorsuch in an email sent in November with the subject line: "veto these Sup. Ct. nominee candidates."
Schlafly wrote that Gorsuch "probably would NOT be pro-life on the Supreme Court" and included him on his list of "unacceptable nominees."
"Gorsuch's Episcopalian church has declared its 'unequivocal opposition' to pro-life laws and he has said nothing publicly pro-life," Schlafly wrote in the email.
Others, including journalist Julia Duin, who previously wrote for the conservative news outlet The Washington Times, have brought up the issue of Gorsuch's membership at St. John's.
"Think about that for a moment. If this man is the frightening conservative that some on the Left are already alleging him to be, there's no way he'd be Episcopalian, much less at a woman-priested church," Duin wrote. "The Episcopal Church, for anyone who's not been following religion trends in recent decades, has been careening to the theological and cultural left for years and its membership statistics show it. Thousands have left TEC and joined alternative Anglican churches."
"A Google search shows there's an Anglican church in Boulder that the Gorsuch family could be attending if they so desired," she continued. "So, the fact that the judge and his family has remained at St. John's says something."

Sadly, only you, me, and a handful of other FReepers seem to realize this common sense statement.
Assuming a SCOTUS nominee will vote the way we want because his "judicial philosophy" is said to be "strict constructionist" (or "originalist" or whatever they're calling it now) has PROVEN to be a total failure over the last four decades. Scores of judges that were marketed as so-called "strict constructionists" sided with the liberal activist crowd once they got a cushy lifetime job on the federal bench.
Gorsuch, IMO, is closest to Sandra Day O'Connor.
Conservatives backing the O'Connor nomination could point to the fact she was a proud, loyal Republican for many years and there were several examples of times she went to bat conservatives and did things we liked when she was Senate Majority Leader in the AZ Senate. However, they have no evidence whatsoever that she was a social conservative or that she was pro-life (and plenty of evidence in her background hinting otherwise), but they said that didn't matter because her "judicial philosophy" was "strict constructionist", so her own views were irrelevant and wouldn't affect her decisions.
Yeah, well, thanks for sharing your wisdom.
Maybe Chuck U. Schumer is doing us a favor.
Maybe he didn’t listen to the pastor, like Maobama. Riii...ght.
Exactly. Trump may have stiffed us. We’ll soon know. The good Episcopals left years ago thanks to “pastors” such as Gorsuch’s.
Our appeal is becoming more selective...
The difference between the Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church in terms of demanding adherence to doctrine is that the Catholic Church has a policy that many would suggest is inadequately enforced. The Episcopal Church has no policy.
Consequently, we also have no quality control, which is why you see so many Episcopal Churches doing so many ridiculous things. On the other hand, absolutely nobody feels any need to take any of those ridiculous things seriously.
Obviously, it is not for everyone. Most people seem to want more structure, more certainty, and more control from a higher authority. I understand that. I just don't share that view.
If you can't stand to share a pew with people who think differently from you, you probably want to try another church down the road. If, however, you prefer the animating interaction of people with various views who treat each other with tolerance and respect (for the most part), the Episcopal Church might be for you.
Harriet Miers is a suit?
That shows that being a Republican and being someone who will rule in accordance with the Constitution are not the same thing. I believe that President Trump wants to keep faith with social conservatives. However, social conservatives communicated what they needed poorly, emphasizing religious liberty instead of the Right to Life.
Your STFU recommendation is ill-suited to a debate forum.
When people tell us to sit down and shut up, it often does not go well for us.
Sure wasn’t long after God and His two angels showed up.
But prior to that, who knows. Obviously within whatever generation he was in and let enough time for the events that transpired afterwards (cough) within his lifetime.
I’ve not liked Gorsuch since I read about his chummy friendships with homosexuals. He’s also wishy-washy on abortion. Why in the hell the Heritage Foundation and National Review think he’s so conservative is beyond me. He sounds like a clone of Souter or Anthony Kennedy.

“Gorsuch on Obergefell
Also during the confirmation hearings, in response to a question about same-sex marriage and the results of the Obergefell decision which many consider an even more outrageously corrupt, activist Supreme Court decision than Roe v Wade Gorsuch stated it is absolutely settled law.”
He did not just call it settled law, which one could say, well, yes, in legal terms that is what it could be said to be for now. But he unnecessarily and disturbingly added the word absolutely. Why did he go to that length?
That comment seemed to indicate Gorsuch is not a full constitutional originalist. No originalist would ever make such a comment that appears to betray the Constitution and the intentions of the Founders considering the travesty of the Obergefell decision.”
I’ve tweeted Kelly Anne Conway and all pro-life sites I can think of the articles on Life Site News. Gorsuch is a liberal. I’ve also emailed/tweeted Jay Seculow, Franklin Graham, the Catholic League and many more and told them to investigate Gorsuch. I’ve been summarily ignored. If he’s confirmed and turns out to be another Souter or Kennedy I can say I did my part. I am not the only one worried about Gorsuch, but apparently his supporters think we’re crazy.
“His wife was born and raised in England and is literally Church of England from birth.”
He acts like a metrosexual girly man. No other reason he would have so many close sodomite friends who he praises on their “marriage” or leave Catholicism for the most liberal protestant faith in the country. His wife told him to. She wears the pants.
Paula White preaches a “If it feels go, do it” false gospel, an apostate of monumental proportions.
There is not enough support in the country to make all abortions illegal and GOP politicians have been cynically using the issue to keep well meaning but gullible people in the thrall of the GOPe. Let’s keep in mind that most of the high level bad actors like McCain and Dubya claim to be pro-life.
The truth is whether abortion is legal or not is a minor issue compared to immigration, the economy, the budget, healthcare, foreign policy etc. The law is not going to change anytime soon and conservatives have devoted too much energy to the issue.
I can’t remember if Roberts had anything widely known that is eyebrow raising like the church this guy attends and is involved with, at least before he was confirmed. Did he?
I think probably this guy gets confirmed, so we will see eventually. You can always ping this thread if he turns out to be a stiff. Heck, you should probably ping it if he turns out to be a good one too. We need more of that on the internet.
