Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!

1st premise to consider.......is either O-care or Ryan care constitutional at all to begin with?
Is PP and its abortion good for a long term society?
Weigh your answers to Trumps stance, Ryans stance and the Freedom Caucus stance.
I would take the HFC a lot more seriously if they stood on principle when it was UNpopular to do so.
Instead, what do they obstruct? The Trump agenda. Instead of working on pulling the bill more to the right and maybe getting assurances that the rest of the stages would be implemented? It’s just stomp stomp stomp, no no no.
The bill probably would have still failed, but if they’d shown even a little more willingness to work with the President, he’d be working with them instead of the liberals when the next bill came out.
Their ‘principled’ stand did their cause far more harm than good with this stunt because they proved that they either can’t be trusted or can’t be reasoned with.
They also put Paul Ryan into the Speakership knowing full well how things would play out with Obamacare. The Freedom Caucus is corrupt and under the control of their donors.
And that is exactly why selling across state lines would lower premiums. Those costs of which you speak are burdensome regulatory costs.
When an out-of-state insurance company doesn't have to cover every service under the sun, they can offer a subset of services for a lower price. The current in-state monopolies will have to compete for business that is all but guaranteed to them today.
Economics 101.

I think that you are forgetting that every member of the Freedom Caucus has a longstanding voting record on conservative issues. They have earned their designation as “hard core conservatives” not by how they would have voted on this one bill but on how they actually have voted for years.
Since President Trump asked Speaker Ryan to pull the bill, we don’t know which members or how many members of the Freedom Caucus would have actually voted against it in a roll call vote.
Here’s some of the members of the Freedom Caucus and their conservative voting record from Conservative Review:
Dave Palmer-AL 100%
Dave Bratt- VA 100%
Justin Amash-MI 97%
Jim Bridenstein-OK 96%
Jeff Duncan-SC 96%
Jim Jordan-OH 96%
Tom Massie-KY 94%
Ken Buck-CO 94%
Raul Labrador-ID 93%
Trent Franks-AZ 90%
The Freedom Caucus are the good guys.
How longstanding is ‘longstanding’?
If it’s within the last 8 years, then it would be easy to rack up an amazingly positive rating by making completely meaningless votes.
After the last few years, I’ve come to believe in conservative ratings a whole lot less than before.
I really don’t have particularly strong feelings regarding passage of Ryancare or lack thereof. I hated the bill on the surface, but I also hated how people reacted to it. No improvements, no alternatives, no true negotiations, just constant no, no, no.
It should have been possible to scupper or at least correct this bill without having turned the CFC into impossible-to-please or completely-bought-off.
Now instead of having a voice in future bills, they’ll be ignored.
Round One and idiots and morons will fall won by won! How long has it been? Get a grip!
I too am a Trump supporter. But he should not give the appearance of trashing voters who supported his election. The health bill was terribly flawed, and there is no way the Priebus/Ryan duet can change that fact. And if Trump can’t learn from this defeat, perhaps he is not the smart guy he projects.
It really only has to do with doing what you said you would do. Making things worse isn’t doing that. I guess we disagree.
Amen.
Conservatives are the ones who got him into office.
I tried to say here that this wasn’t some chess match to eliminate Paul Ryan. Trump ran on repeal and replacement of Obamacare. Trump said he wasn’t going to let people die if they didn’t have healthcare saying the government would provide it. The Freedom Caucus was given concessions, but they weren’t enough. People presumed Trump wanted it to fail (he may be better off that it did in my opinion) so if it did he could abandon Ryan and work with the Freedom Caucus/Rand Paul. I don’t think so. He said next time he could work with the Democrats and wouldn’t need the Freedom Caucus. If so, the Freedom Caucus cut off their noses to spite their faces because they will get less next time.
When a caucus has 36 or so members, they become hard to ignore. A political party tries to control its elected members with perks and campaign cash. The Freedom Caucus doesn’t need or want the normal perks or the money.
Most of the members have self-imposed term limits. They are in Washington for a few years, then gone.
Each ideological rating organization selects which pieces of legislation they feel most reflects a conservative (or liberal) position. For example, one of the 24 bills that the American Conservative Union tracked in 2015 was Obama’s Executive Action on Immigration; another was closing Guantanemo; a third was repeal of the death tax.
Looking at how every one of 435 members voted on 24 bills gives a range of scores from 0 for a knee jerk liberal like Nancy Pelosi to 100 for a perfect conservative like Mark Meadows the Chair of the House Freedom Caucus.
There is quite a range within both major parties. In the Senate, for example, the most liberal Republican is Susan Collins of Maine who votes the conservative position only 46% of the time over 18 years in Congress. Before leaving the Senate to become U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions voted conservative 94% of the time over 18 years.
On the Democrat side, Barbara Boxer voted conservative 4% of the time over 24 years while Florida’s Bill Nelson has voted conservative 28% of the time over 25 years.
So most of these guys were in during the Obozo years.
So in other words, the conservative ratings don’t matter because the votes they held were meaningless. A dust bunny could have gotten a 100 percent rating over the last 8 years with no risk at all.
When they had to vote on something important and involved political risk, like the Speaker of the House, they voted lockstep establishment choice Ryan.
Color me skeptical about their motives.
Our side is all or nothing - Dems are smart enough to go with increments.
Our side is all or nothing - Dems are smart enough to go with increments.
There are Republican members of Congress whose ratings are in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and only about 15 members of both Houses with 100% ratings, even during the Obozo years.
Some examples, Alaska Republican Congressman Don Young has been in the House for 43 years and votes conservative 74% of the time. In 2015 he voted conservative 50% of the time.
Florida Republican Mario Diaz-Bellart has a lifetime 66% conservative rating and he’s been in Congress for 14 years. In 2015 Diaz-Bellart voted the conservative position 46% of the time.
And as I already mentioned, whether the president was Clinton, Bush, or Obama, Senator Collins voted conservative only 46% of the time even though she’s a Republican..
This year of 2017 only one Republican voted against Ryan for Speaker and he was a member of the Freedom Caucus.
Politics as usual is what’s wrong with this country. That’s why Trump won, and then we all want him to negotiate as if “political capital” is necessary. He should run all over these goons in congress. I understand why people are upset that this bill wasn’t what they wanted. But does it accomplish great things like defunding of planned parenthood? The answer is yes, it restores so freedom back to the marketplace. Everyone is go angry over tax credits. All of this just makes me think that the lunatic fringe left apparently is infecting the right as well with it’s craziness.
Oh really? What were the concessions they were asking for, and what concessions were they given? Specifics, please.
