BREAKING NEWS: After a marathon series of negotiations involving President Trump and his top aides Thursday, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) will call a vote on the proposal at Trump’s behest, lawmakers said after a meeting on Thursday night. But lacking sufficient votes to pass it at this point, Republican leaders were still negotiating to see if they could convince enough conservatives to back the measure. “They’re going to bring it up, pass or fail,” said Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho).

This story is developing. It will be updated.

House leaders postponed a vote Thursday on their plan to overhaul the nation’s health-care system, casting doubt on whether President Trump and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) can deliver on one of the GOP’s central promises to the voters who placed Republicans in power.

“And they are unsustainable.”

I agree.

But that’s what we’re going to get.

It’s all posturing. Trump probably got 70% of the vote in Meadows’s district. In the end he won’t obstruct Trump’s agenda. IMO, Trump is putting the heat on the RINOS and smoking them out.

Yes, the pressure is on Ryan. He knows exactly what issues to yield on with the exact number of votes for the bill to pass.

If he can’t do that, his days of being the Speaker of the House will be over soon.

He has to decide which master he wants to serve.

Dropping everything to do with abortion and with medical for illegals, and this bill passes easily.

25 vote margin.

It really is the “moderates” in the GOP and Ryan that are holding up a deal.

Amen, baby.

Ryan’s masterpiece here looks nothing like Trump’s promises.
The Freedom Caucus changes do.

There is so much crap out there, we don’t know if this repeals at all, or what is replaces, or with what. Surely Trump realizes the Caucus comes away sounding much more aligned with Trump than the Ryan amnesty crowd.

This isn’t a final bill though. They need to pass this to continue the process. Shame on the freedom caucus for refusing to move the ball. Repeal needs to happen and their tactics just delay it.

I thought the “moderates” were supposed to be squishy — like when they caved for Obama’s so called negotiations...

You would take neverTrump RINO Ryan’s version of a bill over Jim Jordon’s objections? Dave Brat?

Tells me you are chasing the wrong car tire.

The American people (85%) were completely satisfied with their health-care plans before Obamacare. Only the politicians and their K Street masters wanted Obamacare. If a free-market health-care system were enacted, the American people would adapt to it. Health insurance premiums would plummet, health-care plans would be tailored to meet individual and family needs. It’s not the American people who oppose a free-market system, it’s the politicians and the well-heeled interests behind them.

President Trump is behind the bill. It’s early in his presidency so why aren’t you giving him the benefit of the doubt?

They are the only ones against healthcare for illegals, those clowns.

The Freedom Caucus is miles ahead of Ryan in lining up with Trump’s promises.

Trump I believe is letting Ryan hang himself.

Half the board is saying it’s ryan’s fault.

Half the board is saying it’s the freedom caucuses fault.

And I’m not smart enough to know what the hell is going on!

Thinking about your post some more...

As for Abortion, all they really have to do is reference the Hyde Amendment.

As for illegals, just enforcing the laws on the books and having ICE by hospitals as well as courthouses will get most of them to leave on their own volition.

IMHO, this is the way to work around the moderates.

Trump is equally behind the Freedom Caucus, as well.

Trump has been going out 3 times a week at rallies, or in interviews, saying he wants a full repeal, lower premiums, and an excellent health care plan. Same verbatim, says the Caucus.

Trump has said nothing about wanting insurance for illegals, higher premiums, a gap in healthcare for veterans, in this Ryancare bill.

He is letting Ryan hang himself. This vote sinks Ryan, not Trump. Trump has befriended Ryan all the way, but knowing the Freedom Caucus has his back. Imho.

If the repeal doesn’t pass the democrats will likely sweep back into power with a mandate to enact single payer healthcare.

Distinct possibility; it only takes a relatively small percentage shift and having given the Republicans majorities in the House, Senate, and Presidency, if they drop the ball on this one opportunity it is plausible they will not get another chance.
