The US-led coalition has airdropped allied Syrian fighters near the Isil-controlled city of Raqqa in a surprise attempt to cut off the jihadists main route out.
The operation aims to secure the strategic Tabqa dam across the Euphrates river and isolate the capital of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isils) so-called caliphate from the rest of the groups territory in Syria.
Five helicopters, supported by five fighter jets, dropped dozens of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters near the northern town of Shurfa on Wednesday afternoon, according to local media reports.

This is the first MSM news report I have seen about it. It was put out before the outcome was known.
My sources tell me it was a Great Great victory in this and other related assaults. And that the cooperation between US Special Ops and Kurdish Special Force was outstanding.
ISIS is on it's way out.
Raqqa Ping
The dam is taken and intact in Coalition hands.
We have no right to be there without the invitation of the government of the sovereign government of Syria. Absolute violation of international law.
Dear Telegraph... learn the difference between AIRDROP and AIR ASSAULT..
Airdrop is when the little guys JUMP out of airplanes with a PARACHUTE,,,AIR Assault is when they ride in helicopters and land at the objective
This was an AIR ASSAULT..kabish
Kill as many of ISIS as possible. Put the injured or captured into the Raqqa prison. Turn the prison over to the Yazidi women.
Who cares as long as they kill the phuqers....
Follow the law or expect the law breakers here /
Agreed. The globalists are just as active, simply less strident at the moment.
Give Obama credit. It’s called leading from behind.
True enough, although the past four administrations have played this game. Still I hate to see it metastasizing to the fifth.
/s ?
Good, now all we gotta do is keep ISIS, Turkey, McCain and the Obama Globalists outta there and put the dam and water supply back into operation.
we better start protecting our own shores...
I haven’t been watching military ops in Syria, but the headline suggests Syria and the US are working together instead of being on opposite sides during the Obama/McCain years.
Sounds like a move in the right direction: ISIS will no longer will be armed and helped clandestinely by the United States.
Take that, you ^%$#@)! McLame!
Totally agree. We fight the _enemy_ elsewhere, but then move them into our neighborhoods. Sickness.
I support our military, but...
We have supported the Syrian Kurds since Kobani. That began in late September 2014. It only happened because the public demanded Obama stop ISIS for over running Kobani. He finally relented and dropped some supplies and brought in air cover to destroy ISIS’s armor. Then the Survivors, mostly women killed ISIS. So we now have exceptional people we are fighting along side in our War on ISIS.
And they are great people on a personal level. I am very close to a few of them. It is a partnership of almost 3 years. I spent a great deal of time trying to transfer information about them and the conflict to US media and individuals on the web. Still feel very good about that. I think I have learned a lot about the complexities of the region and I think exposure in the US has helped their cause.
There have been times when I annoyed some here with my single focus posts. hee hee hee
Sorry for the rant. I really am happy that Syrian Kurds and our military are so effective together.
Some details here: Siege of Kobanî https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Koban%C3%AE
There are also some videos of actual action available on the web and a movie that was produced on the Siege of Kobanî. It is an incredible story.
That event did change Syrian Kurds lives.
Absolutely correct. ISIS is going down.
Yes, Yazidi women would take care of ending them.
I love it. hee hee hee
It was still operating. They held captive the operating crew. We only bombed the dry side of the bridge on road to dam.
So it will be rapid recovery there. Knew about the bridge part of it weeks ago.
