Drugs are killing so many people in Ohio that cold-storage trailers are being used as morgues

By about 3 p.m. Friday, a county morgue in east Ohio was already full — and more bodies were expected.

Rick Walters, an investigator for the Stark County coroner's office, had just left for two death scenes: a suicide and an overdose.

From the road, he called the director of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to ask for help. He needed more space, he explained — specifically, a cold-storage trailer to act as an overflow morgue.

As with much of the United States, Ohio is in the throes of a heroin and opioid epidemic that shows no signs of abating.

What I find strange is that the same government passed a law the very next year that allowed for killing

of unborn, and apparently unwanted, humans.  Little ones still nestled safely in their Mother's womb.

Around 25% of them are dying before birth - on average nearly 3,300 - every day of the year.

 

 

I hear that by now, somewhere around 58 MILLION of them have perished.

Wouldn't that kind of mess up the humans plans for growth, and welfare, and

retirement?

Opioids Killing More Now

Unfortunately, as the supply of painkillers has dropped, many addicts have turned instead to heroin (see chart), which is cheap and plentiful. In 2014 more Americans sought treatment for heroin than for any other drug. In 2015, as total opioid deaths grew by 15%, heroin deaths increased by 23%.

Data released in recent months show that the opioid epidemic is worsening, driven largely by the rise of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid painkiller 50-100 times more powerful than morphine. What I have been told is that in my area the precursor to heroin addiction is usually prescription painkillers, not marijuana.

That is very much the case; often legitimately-prescribed painkillers lead to the addiction, and heroin is cheaper than the pills.

Drug use has historically gone up post criminalization. Most libertarians do believe at the margin that drug legalization/decriminialization will save lives but its primarily about whether or not the government has the right to regulate this (especially at the federal level), whether giving non-violent people a criminal record is a good idea since you basically permanently pidgeon hole them into the criminal world forever, whether or not giving violent gangs a lot of money is a good idea, and whether we as a society want to pay upwards of $100B a year for courts, enforcement, and incarceration of non-violent offenders. Add on an increased police state, etc - The war on drugs has failed as badly as alcohol prohibition did. If someone wants drugs today, they'll get them - more than half of drug deaths today are already legal prescription and OTC drugs.

This in general though is like #20 on the list of things to get to, though, and is fairly low priority (although a decent # of people put MJ as a higher priority). Personally, my drug of choice is a 6pk of beer on the weekend.

My scripts have been cut off because doctors say they can no longer prescribe hydrocodone. I’ve been taking it in limited doses for almost 3 years for arthritis and now I need to find something else. I’m told to go to a pain management center that will do other things like painful injections every month or so.

Once again the left are punishing the good for something the bad chooses to use for recreation.

What I see in the scientific daily data.. is they are testing positive for both.. I run drug tests everyday. So.. as usual, the data doesn’t lie, but people do. The question is why? Why not provide the data. They die with more than seventy percent with both drugs.. it is the heroin od. that kills them, but they are also treating their pain with pot. The dopamine system gets wracked and it’s a domino that starts the game. Lots and lots of children in dire straits because of this. Had one set of parents who smoked all day and um never took their six year old to school. Finally, the state placed him and he is a year behind.. well much more than that, in reality.

Yes, it’s out of control, and heroin usage has moved to the white suburbs. Just this week in Dayton Ohio, a commercial airline pilot and his wife overdosed and died. Their four young children found them.
