Krauthammer has been a consistent #nevertrumper.
Obamacare needs to be repealed and replaced, and I’d prefer steps 1, 2, and 3 all be at the same time.
However, Krauthammer doesn’t actually want any of it.
The best time to kill a new movement is at its very beginning. The same with an entitlement.
Kill it now.
The ones that would lose their health insurance would not vote republican anyway. Ignore their opinion on this.
Oh, and Rule Number One:
Ignore Krauthammer
Kill the bill. Repeal obamacare or let it go bust. Do not allow the GOP to “legitimize” federal healthcare insurance entitlements.
I’ve stopped caring about Charles “Mommy - What’s Wrong With That Man’s Face?” Krauthammer has to say about anything.
Health care is a right. Health insurance is a responsibility.
Nobody should be denied health care and nobody should expect somebody else to purchase health insurance for them.
Not so. Some democracies have collapsed economically, due to bloated debt, thus have been forced by economic law to abolish health care.
There must be many, but Argentina comes to mind. I wonder what's up with health care in Greece...
I agree. It needs to be cremated, deep sixed, decapitated, sent to its dirt nap, etc. Whatever...just kill it.
Especially the social engineering sections. They bother me more than anything else.
Death panels.
Gun control based on health issues.
Abortion
Trump is your problem not the Kraut. Trump doesn’t want it killed either. He preserved it with his utter idiotic endorsement of keeping the provision of excluding prexisiting conditions. That settled the notion that we would return to having a health insurance market, we cannot. Instead we now have a debate over health care taxation and spending.
Complain all you want about never trumpers but Trump is getting the plan he has endorsed and lobbied for. If you do not like it blame Trump.
How do you kill a bill that Trump has not only endorsed but is actively wooing the GOPc to pass? Do you wish to fight Trump?
save for later
Unless, of course, you go the full Machiavelli and throw it all back on the Democrats. How? Republicans could forget about meeting the arcane requirements of “reconciliation” legislation (which requires only 51 votes in the Senate) and send the Senate a replacement bill loaded up with everything conservative — including tort reform and insurance competition across state lines. That would require 60 Senate votes. Let the Democrats filibuster it to death — and take the blame when repeal-and-replace fails and Obamacare carries on and then collapses under its own weight.
Upside: You reap the backlash. Downside: You have to live with your conscience.
This is where Kraut gets it. This is what I belive Trump is doing here. Surely he's not dumb enough to think he can expect RINOCare will pass. There are not enough Repub votes. And that is a good thing.
So let the version 1, 2, 3 ...... 15, 16 whatever fail. And let ObamaCare implode and fail was well.
And as far as living with my conscience? Yeppers. I'll sleep like a baby.
Trump has put it out for negotiation. You start with an extreme.
He wants pre-existing conditions in a separate pool so that it does NOT affect normal insurance rates.
However, anyone who has a bad health condition and HAS coverage should NOT be pushed off that coverage.
Obamacare destroyed the coverage of many who already had their condition covered. Then they could NOT keep their coverage or their doctor.
Then they were directed to providers who quit covering altogether. They NEVER would have quit their coverage if they’d just been left alone originally.
Why should they be punished because the government ruined their coverage?
No matter what is done with Obamacare, someone is going to “lose coverage.” I am coming slowly to the conclusion that Mr. Trump is bargaining with the American people: I’ll go for all these fiscally conservative positions, and in return you’ll accept national health insurance/care. He has said he will not accept less than every person covered, and he said early on that he considered the Canadian system successful. If this is the case, the question is only whether the people consider the compromise worth it.
The GOP wasn’t elected to do nothing.
That's been my thought from the get-go!
Or, just repeal the damn thing!
I agree with you totally....
Nobody should be denied health care and nobody should expect somebody else to purchase health insurance for them.
Would you agree that nobody should be denied health care (rich or poor); and that it should be provided without cost to those who have no money. Do “those” include citizens only? Do we pay for the poor immigrant who has been critically injured in a car accident?
Tough questions.
Health care is not a right !
A right is something you can exercise without depriving someone else of something. Free speech is a right, others may not like what you say but they are not deprived of anything. Freedom of a assembly as long as you don’t trespass. (If you trespass you are depriving someone of the use of their property!) Bear arms is a right as long as you don’t threaten. Read the Bill of Rights its a good and pretty exhaustive list!
If Health Care was a right I could demand it with no compensation to the provider. By proclaiming it to be a right your are demanding the right to put your hand in someone else’s’ pocket. It doesn’t mater if you have a good reason.
