A New York Times columnist is encouraging IRS employees to commit a felony by leaking Donald Trumps tax returns to his newspaper.
If youre in IRS and have a certain presidents tax return that youd like to leak, my address is: NYT, 620 Eighth Ave, NY NY 10018, Nicholas Kristof wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
Kristof, a liberal who writes about global affairs, was responding to a tweet from Vox.com editor Matt Yglesias who marveled that the IRS rarely leaks tax information.
One reason for that is because doing so constitutes a felony. The unauthorized release of an individuals tax returns is punishable by a fine of $5,000 and up to five years in prison. Leakers would also likely face a series of professional sanctions.
Trump has refused to release his taxes, claiming that they are under audit. The Republican flirted with the idea of releasing the documents during the presidential campaign but never followed through. . .

That night on Free Republic Buckhead posted that the print was wrong. It was computer spacing not typewriter spaced as the document should have been back then. That sunk Rather. That was a fun night on FR!

This is the kind of crap that happens when there is no morality or decency in society. (Also when you give immense power to an organization like the IRS.)
Lots of studies lately that are showing that one result of diversity is an unraveling of social trust and that social trust is necessary for a thriving society.
The IRS is a socialist evil inflicted on us by control freak government money grabbers.
I almost hope they DO have Trump’s taxes and that maybe this will make him mad enough to shut down the IRS and repeal the 16th Amendment. I realize he can’t do it on his own, but he sure would have a LOT of support from a LOT of angry Americans.
The leaked info is so helpful to Trump that I’m suspicious he leaked it.
It, truly, is so bad.....there is NOTHING there.
I wonder how she got it, did it just show up in her mailbox?
When you go into the small towns of middle America. Towns that once where bustling and now only have a closed bank and grocery store to match the closed local factory. But somehow there is an H & R Block office and a Hewitt Jackson office all for the purpose of doing the taxes of the people who dont even have enough extra income to maintain a local grocer. They are so broke they could file the 1040-EZ and that is too complicated. You know damn well that Donald J. Trump Billionaire, who owns a mansion, several, and a yacht is NOT doing his own taxes!””
Exactly. My return must be close to 50 pages amd I did my own return until about 1990. The constant changes finally forced me to use a CPA. The dying small towns bring a great sadness to me. Anytime I travel by car I make an attempt to stop and spend money if there is some needed item that can be found in little towns. They are being starved out of existence.
as they are eliminated the population is more easily controlled by the elites.
It is illegal to publish an unauthorized return or return information.
It is perfectly legal. There are many case law cases, ie Pentagon Papers which involved the NYT in particular. But you can not ask a person to commit a felony whether that felony has then been committed or not. He has already broken the law and should be charged, immediately!
“Watch Maddow get arrested on her show at 9. /s”
That would be my first and only time I tuned in : )
