The Obama administration announced highly controversial military pull-out dates in the region, which begat a skyrocketing of terrorist attacks in both the Iraq and Afghanistan. Ultimately, Iraq and Syria were plunged into a barbaric war with ISIS forces, which gained control of vast swaths of the region under Obama's watch. Afghanistan experienced a sharp, bloody uptick in terrorist attacks by Taliban forces and an economic upheaval during the later Obama years.

Gold Star wives nodded their heads in agreement over their dessert tea being served. One wife directly followed the comments from the ambassador by saying Obama's actions in Afghanistan were an “insult” to her husband's legacy and what he fought for.
Whoever told them that needs to be discovered, and dealt with. Was it a holdover from the State Department? If it was one of Trump's staff, they need to be gone.

Maybe, but the Afghans were pleasantly surprised at the detail of the calls they had, and the questions, and follow-up questions they received from Trump. Somebody did the President a great disservice by telling the Afghans that, and they should be corrected.
Obama was happy to have a stand in place policy, because he knew the other side would execute a takeover policy.
The Leftists and terrorists advanced, while he trashed his (OUR NATION) constantly.
It didn’t stop at our borders either. He was the instigator of racial strife in the U. S., once again trashing it for political gain.
Obama very much wants to win also. Unfortunately, he’s on the side of the terrorists!
Trump is a WINNER.
This is no longer The Era of Obama; this is the era of Trump, and responses to such slights of The President ought to reflect that. Trump's not the sort to re-educate people who already know better; he hasn't got time for that crap. Whomever it is knows their job, has a basic knowledge of Trump's style, but intentionally communicated an erroneous picture of Trump's expectations.
They don't need re-training; they need replacing.

Even though it doesn't seem so at first glance I think the ambassador was being VERY diplomatic by saying "Not Lose".

As you get older and wiser - well there is an assumption there - you realize that if they can't tell you what you need to know in a page or two, they can't tell you at all. It's less about helping the senior guy know how to think than it is about teaching the guys who write this stuff about how to think.
It's the old phrase in "Alice in Wonderland" if you don't know where you are going then any way will get you there.
