The Democrats did not have 60 votes to pass it.
Use the same kind of underhanded skullduggery to repeal it.

Only Obamacare provisions that have a budgetary impact can be repealed in the reconciliation bill. Other measures will have to follow afterward.

If the entire Obamacare bill could be passed in a reconciliation bill why cannot the entire bill also be repealed in a reconciliation bill? If those parts that do not have budgetary impact cannot be so repealed those same parts should not have been able to be passed through reconciliation.

Does President Trump and his cabinet believe that all Americans should pay for “Gender reassignment surgery”?

“In particular, a full repeal of Obamacare must get through the Senate, which means it must get 60 votes.”

Which ain’t gonna happen.

So the thing has to be dismantled piecemeal.

Which is what they’re doing.

Everyone relax.

I’ve yet to see ANYONE who supports RINOCare. Not Ryan. Not the House. Not any conservative media. No one.

Except Trump.

And he is hedging his bets by allowing this is a step by step process.

But we must remember that Trump wants a replacement to ObamaCare so we must not be surprise when he signs off on some lame-ass version of ObamaCare 2.0

I think everyone here -- including me -- should step back from this and take a good hard look at everything in the GOP plan before we pan it.

Personally, I think there's a simple process for dealing with this disaster -- and this is a perfect time for it:

1. Let the GOP leadership in Congress do whatever the hell they want with their "health care reform." They can reform it, repeal it, sit on their @sses and leave ObamaCare in place, etc. It doesn't really matter.

2. Have some enterprising business and medical professionals -- you know, the kind of people who have been MAKING AMERICA GREAT for more than 200 years -- come up with a medical insurance or cost-sharing plan that is governed (or not) by the regulations in one or more states and saves its members a ton of money because it doesn't meet any of the ObamCare or RyanCare requirements.

3. Tell Congress, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the insurance industry lobbyists that own Congress to go f#%& themselves.

Ten bucks says Donald Trump would be 100% behind this alternative approach.

The author a friend of Ryan’s? Whatta load.

Repeal, tear, shred, mutilate, burn, hang, shoot, gas, drown, stab, then burn and drown it again for good measure.

Peter Nelson, my colleague at Center of the American Experiment, is one of the country’s leading experts on health care policy.

That's a little over the top.

Up to a $14K subsidy to the upper middle class, including some of the subsidy reaching up to $290K in income?

It is a horrible new and newly expanded entitlement that will balloon the debt and deficit of the US guv, as well as a yet bigger wrench distorting and thus increasing the cost of what healthcare is delivered into the US. In that way, not too different from how the US involvement in student loans has bloated college costs while building an upper-middle-class entitlement monster.

The GOP couldn’t do anything about DeathCare because they didn’t have control of Congress. So we voted them the House.

Then, they couldn’t do anything because they couldn’t get a repeal past the House. So we voted them the Senate.

Then they couldn’t do anything because the the President would veto any repeal. So we voted them a Republican President.

What’s the excuse now?

Oh, it will also take away what brakes we had on the 10s of millions of illegals in the US being able to sweep up massive Obamacare use and subsidies as well.

Oh, also, simply add it to the massive new entitlements that Ivanka wants for childcare for those making up to $500K, as well as the guaranteed, paid family leave and the Trump administration will have already become this most expensive entitlement-bloat admin in history. Ivanka’s big giveaway is supposedly slated to be part of any tax “reform”, so the goal is to get all of this massive, budget-busting entitlement expansion done in the first year of the Trump presidency.

Then on top of that, Obama is already threatening to campaign against those freedom caucus fighters that we have in Congress.

This isn’t a Trump presidency, this is shaping up as a Ryan/Pence/Priebus debacle of a presidency. The same sort of excess and stupidity that made W such a disaster as a president and handed the presidency right on back over to the leftists.

1) Send to Trump the same repeal that you sent to Obama

2) Create “standard” and “color coded” policies as defined by HHS. For example, RED would be high deductible + HSA type account. GREEN would be low deductible, high premium EPO/PPO account. Add an A/B/C distinguishing the allowance of pre existing conditions indicator. GREEN/A would indicate no preexisting conditions. GREEN/B would indicate some limit on preexisting and GREEN/C would indicate that preexisting conditions were allowed.

Allow companies who comply with the standards verified by HHS, to sell insurance into the national market place.

3) Allow all businesses to deduct the cost of both HSAs as well as insurance for all employees - 101% for less than 40 hour workers and 102% for full time workers

4) Allow individuals to tax deduct premiums, co-pays and out of pocket expenses from their individual taxes.

5) Wait 4 years before making any other adjustments and let the market heal itself from the Dem interference

So support this now because they will really, really fix it in the future? Right, and the horse might talk, too.

Horsecrap. The bill does NOTHING to eliminate the insurance industry’s Federally-sponsored franchise to mark down reimbursed healthcare costs as submitted on providers’ bills by 90% or more. In other words, the insurance industry has an apparent right to argue a $1237. hospital bill down to $75. or $128. or whatever ridiculous number they end up paying. This is the precise point where the rubber meets the road. If I can go into McDonalds and order a Big Mac for $4.75 yet offer the clerk 71 cents and the deal goes thru, there is a market distortion of such magnitude that nothing of any reasonableness can occur. With such a perma-distortion in place, docs and hospitals HAVE TO submit giant bills for services rendered if they know that an insurance claim will be the source of payment. It HAS TO BE this way, the doctor or hospital cannot bill for a service, perform the burden of ins claim submittal and then accept a dime on the dollar for his service. Until this horrific distortion of market forces is removed from the system, enormous cost-shifting MUST occur.

Secondly, the very idea that no-limit pre-existing condition “insurance” coverage is shoved into the same portfolio of insurance risk to the ins co that routine claims are is completely absurd. If I am an ins company in the business of insuring houses against fire and I have a book of 500 houses, I cannot now go out and seek super-tanker-run-aground policies to sell. The one time the supertanker runs aground obliterates my risk profile. This cannot be done. Insurance risks must be properly matched to insurance premia and vice versa otherwise we are just perpetuating a massively distorted system.

Until these factors are fixed and/or changed, there is nothing but squeezing the balloon of gross HC costs and trying to shift the costs from here to there.

What a bunch of Horsecrap! Repeal it with a majority vote. That was how it was passed or deemed passed.

President Trump needs to do a prime time address to the nation on this. Otherwise, both Democrats and GOPe will spin this not in his favor.

“Specifically, the reconciliation process can’t repeal Obamacare’s essential health benefit requirements that force people to buy very generous and, therefore, very expensive health plans.”

This provision was created under the reconciliation process. Why are we to believe it can not be ended the same way?

Is this a tacit admission that the original bill was, in fact, illegal?

Maybe Republicans ought to do the repeal through reconciliation and duke it out in court. Either it IS LEGAL to do so, or the original bill was ILLEGAL.
