Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Sunday raised questions about President Trump's claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower before the election.
In an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press," Schumer said Obama has "flatly denied that he has done this."
"And either way, Chuck, the president's in trouble. If he falsely spread this kind of misinformation, that is so wrong," Schumer said.
"It's beneath the dignity of the presidency. It is something that really hurts people's view of government."
Schumer said if this is the case, it shows the president doesn't know how to "conduct himself."
"On the other hand, if it's true, it's even worse for the president," Schumer said. "Because that means that a federal judge, independently elected, has found probable cause that the president, or people on his staff, have probable cause to have broken the law or to have interacted with a foreign agent."
Schumer called that possibility "serious stuff."

American voters are not going to support one party spying on another in such an overt way.
Your party is in deep crap, Chuck.
Heck, even your electoral safety in New York might not be guaranteed.
Wrong side of history.
The left accuses Trump of making up lies about Obama..yet its these same libtards with ZERO evidence, claim Trump colluded with the Russians..do they have any proof..NO but they still claim it
Still think they are above the law
Indeed. Im so sure its not even funny.
This is all getting beyond weird.
The Democrats are saying stuff as if they were low IQ buffoons suffering from serious mental illness and delusions about how people perceive them.
I mean, they’ve always been exactly that ... but they used to hide it better.
Schumer has been calling for investigations for weeks.
Since the Trump wire tapping story broke and confirmed by this article,
Schumer is no longer calling for investigations.
I wonder why?
Could it be Schumer is now afraid of a wire tapping investigation?
Hey, Chuckle, federal judges are appointed, not elected.
They’re still going with this meme?
It was all over the net yesterday and it is dumb. It’s totalitarian logic.
It seems like his sole function in Washington is to make an @ss out of himself on national television and serve as a punching bag for Donald Trump.
Until the 1st head is on a pike, they will go on believing they are above the law.
a Federal judge denied the request initially. It’s probable that the administration proceeded to spy on Trump without the warrant using some kind of special needs exception. They later applied again and were granted a limited warrant to spy on one server in Trump Tower and nothing was found on that server evidently. the nature of that server is a curious matter.
Did Chucky Cheese forget that federal judges are NOT elected. They are appointed and as far as independence is concerned, we need to see the judge’s name on the FISA warrant to evaluate independence.
What does Drudge mean by stating dems smell blood in the water? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Just asking folks..just asking
You have to hand it to him, he fights. Republicans would have already convicted Trump if the roles were reversed.
Correct. A warrant is applied for only when judicial proceedings are sought and charges are to be made.
P.S. — Chuck is full of sh!t from top to bottom. If perjury, subornation of perjury and obstruction of justice weren’t sufficient to get Bill Clinton thrown out of office on his ass in 1998, then a bunch of 140-character Twitter messages from the president in 2017 don’t mean squat.
Chuckie knows that the Dems own enough judges to get anything signed off on.
“Because that means that a federal judge, independently elected, has found probable cause that the president, or people on his staff, have probable cause to have broken the law or to have interacted with a foreign agent.”
I don’t think FISA works that way.
