*Headdesk headdesk headdesk*
Now, repenting for not being GRATEFUL for what God has given to you is not only okay, but a good thing to do.
But seriously, dude. This?
Idiot traitor.
You giving up being white for Lent?.. no one in their right mind would give up being Christian...< / s >
Dude! You say “priviledge”like it’s a bad thing!
White - ok. Christian - doubtful. Man - Not Even Close.
I’m a White Christian Man and I’m Acknowledging My Privilege for Lent
I’m giving beer, what the heck, this guys getting off easy
OK, I get it now.
I’m making a BIG DONATION to the “Human Fund” for Lent.
Mr. Hale helped lead national Catholic outreach for President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign. His work has appeared at National Catholic Reporter, Time magazine, USA Today, The Washington Post, CNN and Fox News
Beginning to sound like the 1966 ‘struggles’ during the Chinese Cultural Revolution ...
So does this mean he gives up his house, car, bank account, job, etc. and moves into the hood with the Homies for 40 days?
He heads “Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good”
typical post conciliar Catholic...just had to have Vat II, didn’t we...?
A Christian should repent to God in prayer, and not repent to liberalism by virtue signaling in public as a backhanded way to condemn conservatives.
I remember when Time magazine used to be a valid news source. That was about 40 years ago though.
Talk about Lent, did any other single Catholic men notice Mollie Hemmingway on Bret’s show with ashes on her forehead for Ash Wednesday?
Wow, she is so hot! I want her. I’m a weak man. :-)
Years ago I visited a United Methodist Church and the entire theme of that Sunday was social justice issues. When it was time for the prayer of confession, we confessed to enslaving blacks, wiping out the Indians, oppressing various groups, etc. I hadn’t done any of that, and I didn’t have the opportunity in that prayer to confess the sins I had actually committed. Give me the words of the old Book of Common Prayer, that allows confession of “what we have done, and what we have left undone,” and let everyone focus in on what that means for them.
That was the only time I ever came close to walking out of a church service.
Can’t post a reply. Confirmation they don’t want to hear anything other than what they already feel.
I’m giving up profanity for Lent — which makes it very hard to respond to this guy’s ignorance.
It occurred to me that the spirit of Lent, which focuses on humble repentence, is the exact opposite of loudly broadcasting what you have “given up.”
